Hello everyone!

I’m preparing to apply for the DTV visa at the end of January in Hanoi.

I’ve been living in Thailand for 5 years, and my bank account with a 500k baht balance is in a Thai bank.

Would this be an issue? Has anyone successfully applied using a Thai bank to prove the balance?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

There are a lot of posts of successful applicants with Thai bank accounts. You can use any personal bank account for the 500k.

I live here. I'm in the group to provide advice. Believe me, it makes ZERO difference where your bank is located, all you need to show is the funds.

I dont have any personal experience to share on this question but I have read posts in this group where people submitted bank statements from a Thai bank account when applying in Vietnam and their visa was rejected. My understanding is that you need to show a foreign bank account.

There was a recent rejection of a Thai bank account you may have read. The issue was sending his salary to that Thai account giving the impression he had business/employment ties to Thailand. A Thai bank account is fine to show for the 500k.Important to ensure its' activity is inline with DTV guidelines.

go away, you are full of it. If people were rejected it had zero to do with having 500K in a Thai bank, unless they didn't have it in for a suitable length of time

no need for the aggression. I was just sharing what I read in the group in case it was useful. I made that very clear, that it was based on what I read not personal experience. If you have a different experience, please share so we can all learn, but please leave the attitude at home, it's not necessary. We are all doing our best here.

I also group searched Vietnam rejected and Vietnam denied. After browsing every hit, I saw nothing as such related by you.

my experience in this group since it's virtual inception is no one has ever been rejected solely for showing funds in a Thai bank account. It's absurd to even believe that a Thai bank account would be a non starter. The requirements are simple and clear 500K+ in a bank period, not a foreign bank, not a foreign country, not on the planet Mars or Narnia. As I stated earlier, if someone was rejected, it had zero to do with funds being in a Thai bank. I'm here to help people cut through the BS, and call out the BS.

Should not be a problem.

BUT you fail to disclose your passport nation.

And for which purpose applying for the DTV Visa you are using.

And the Visa, if any, that you are NOW on in Thailand.

you should be fine with your application for the DTV Visa using Muay Thai training. Be sure you are using a Muay Thai training school gym which has successfully helped obtain the DTV visa for their students. There are specific requirements for them to meet to be able to sponsor your Muay Thai training.

Good Luck 🍀 and please let us know your experience with the Thai Embassy or Consulate where you submitted your application.
