TLDR : Answer Summary
The user reports being locked out of their bank account due to a SIM card name mismatch after recently opening a K Bank account. Commenters suggest visiting the SIM card provider, typically AIS, with proper identification (passport) to obtain a receipt that confirms the user’s phone number and name match. Several users share experiences highlighting the need for specific formats for receipts, the importance of showing an address and passport number, and the frustrations with customer service regarding bank policies. There are discussions about stricter regulations due to anti-money laundering efforts impacting foreign users negatively.
Go to phone company with proof of address and your passport and get your number registered to your passport 50 baht take paper to bank problem solved

So how does one do banking when overseas?

I needed a statement from the big bank to cover from day one. I had it emailed to me cost 500 baht. It was useless as showed I transfered money out but did not show to whom. I needed the statement to show who received the money as proof they received my payment.

Happened to me, even tho no changes. Went to AIS printed off receipt. They wouldn't accept my online statement. Treatment of foreigners has dropped to an all time low
i don't buy this excuse and the banks said it was the Chinese laundering. So punish them andnits not the people here that retire an donthe proper steps from immigration. Indent ever believe a single word from thai official. And banks have many ways to flag money laundering. All a bunch of lies
that figures. I went to AIS first and got the ladder that AIS said I would need for the bank. Went to K bank and they said don’t you have an online statement? This letter is not what we need.. I showed them the online statement on my phone and it was all good
Go with your passport to your sim provider they’ll give you a letter to take to the bank

Did the name thing. But the receipt had to be a particular format.

Go to your cell carrier and get a receipt that shows your phone number and name. Then go to the bank and get them to unlock it.

Another detail as an afterthought when they give the option of Authentication when you phone the call center for the Big Bang they offer two options for account verification one is the SIM card for the phone password entry and the second one is with your bank card number submission. I believe it may have unlocked when I submitted the bank card number as well as the three digit security number allocated to that card that could very well have unlocked. I will have to check at a local branch to ensure everything is okay as I mentioned earlier. Good luck to everybody who is having similar issues

Brandon Thurkettle thanks for your advice everything seems to be okay now after only being locked out for about 1 hour.

Just an update on my op. It seems I was only locked out for about 1 hour and then everything was available again on the phone application for big Bank. When I was locked out immediately before being locked up there was an update agreement that I agreed to and it seemed that is what locked me out. I waited about 1 hour and tried a login and simple transfer and all was successful. I will be confirming everything at a local branch of the big bank just to ensure everything is okay. Thank you for your suggestions and shared experience in this string

I decided against verifying things at the big bank branch for my account but when I used my bank card at another bank ATM everything was fine. I'll just leave it as it is instead of risking opening a bigger account of worms. Good luck to everybody with this similar issue
I had the same issue with Kasikorn but the printout required had to show that the details that AIS held showed that my name, address and passport number all matched
that is correct. It is not a case of mismatched. Bangkok Bank simply want to verify all foreign account holders have legitimate phone numbers. I had to do this last Friday. Bangkok Bank was hit big-time when the government cracked down on mule/proxy accounts.
this is so coincidental, I did mine last Friday too. I was updating my address at Bangkok Bank and I asked the lady to check all of my account and she mentioned I should go to dtac and do it. I had a new passport too but I did do the 100 baht deposit and the slip with my name, passport and number was printed out. For K Bank they only needed the digital certification with qr code. It took me 5 hours total to do 2 banks and do dtac. So glad it's done now.
It's actually about ~700,000 numbers from 2022 (I don't remember which month) which were not correctly registered or sim-cards bought online and those were pre-registered which is not allowed. It's not about foreign account holders only.
Me too, last week had the phone number for 20 odd years but in that time I had a new passport number, that was the main problem, so anyone with a Thai phone number who gets a new passport needs to report it to the Phone service provider, I had already reported the new passport number to the bank.
actually over 180,000 Thai accounts were closed three months ago when this first took effect after the first call center shutdowns in Myanmar happened, and the government increased regulations targeting online e-commerce scams aimed at Thais, and there were a lot
