I'm just sharing some information about SIM cards. I needed a high-speed, unlimited data SIM card for working from home. At the AIS shop in a nearby shopping mall, I couldn't sign up for the 1199 baht 5G MAX unlimited plan. However, I was able to sign up at the AIS shop in Siam Paragon. It seems that because there are relatively few users of the DTV visa itself, there are differences between shops. By the way, with TRUE, I was told that I would need to buy a new tourist SIM every month, which wasn't practical.
Answer summary
The discussion revolves around acquiring high-speed, unlimited data SIM cards in Thailand, particularly for expats. A user mentions their experience with different AIS shops regarding the 5G MAX unlimited plan and highlights how availability may differ based on visa type, specifically the DTV visa. Several comments provide insights into alternatives, with users sharing their experiences and costs of various SIM packages from different providers, such as TRUE and Dtac. Many emphasize that foreigners can access local SIM cards easily, suggesting that a passport is sufficient for purchase.

Download the MyAIS app and you should be able to get whatever on-top package you want.

Still sporting the same number I got from the airport in 2021. My main package changed to a mao mao pre paid which costs me nothing itself, and I only pay for the on-top unlimited package.

Thank you for the information. In my case, I was confused because the nearby AIS shop told me that a work permit is required for postpaid packages.

neji5432 I don't use post-paid, so that might be true.

But these on-top packages are available for pre-paid SIMs.

Visa has nothing to do. Anybody can buy any plan. You just need to bring the passport.

In my experience the unlimited SIMs routinely have their speed throttled when you reach a certain data usage cap, which is under the fair use conditions. I don't have Internet where I live so I use my phone for everything, including TV. I load 200 baht a month on the SIM and never run out of data.

My True Cable WiFi and a mobile SIM package is 640 baht per month. 1200 baht seems a lot …. I remember i paid for previous SIM 2500 baht for a year

They push foreigners to signup for expensive "unlimited" data when ~300B for 30 days is enough. But you have to know to ask for it.

Go to AIS shop. Can get a local SIM even on a tourist visa exemption. Spent 18 months on and off in Thailand and we were fine. Just needed to show our passport to get

Dtac has never cared about any visa aspect for me they simply ask which package I want.
