So, when I get a cell phone in my name, will my receipt reflect that? Debating on getting it in the small town near me or going to Khon Kaen. Not sure if the small town cell provider would know what I'm talking about for proof of the plan in my name. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When purchasing a cell phone and sim card in Thailand, especially if you want documentation in your name, it's critical to go to an official telecom shop like AIS. Receipts from these providers will typically include your name and other necessary information. Many users have confirmed that after obtaining a phone and sim card under their name, they received receipts showing their personal details, which can serve as proof of ownership.

I did that yesterday. AIS made eSIM with Thai phone number in my Japan iPhone and I have 2 eSIMs in it and can switch between.

I took a 3,850 THB 1 year unlimited Internet package and the receipt shows my name, passport number and Thai address (my own condo).

AIS staff said "This is what your bank wants to see".

Buying the phone is one thing but topping up via your teleco shop ie ais getting a receipt from ais is proof of your number being yours.
