What should I do if I received a refusal for a DTV visa due to not completing an interview that I never received a link for?

Hi,

Could anyone recommend what to do in this situation? I applied for an DTV visa through Ankara. All my documents were accepted, then I was informed that I needed to attend an interview and that I would receive a link for it. However, no link was ever sent, and in the end I received a refusal stating that I had not completed the interview. What should I do?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user applied for a DTV visa through the Ankara consulate, had their documents accepted, but did not receive a link for a required interview and was ultimately refused. Responses suggest checking spam emails, visiting the embassy in Ankara in person, checking the visa portal for interview details, and potentially reapplying with a new payment if the process cannot be rectified.

From my experience with Ankara embassy, the first thing is- They will NOT change decision whetever you explain now. If you go to embassy and can visit someone there, it won't be helpful for you- just waste of money and time.

If you are serious about the DTV, then you need to APPLY AGAIN with new payment. This time, when they will send you email for interview, if there is no date inside the email, then call the embassy. If they cannot support by phone, then directly visit embassy with your email and explain. Usually, Ankara embassy rejects for smaller things too. Now for every candidate, they call for interview. You just need to show that you are serious. I don't know the reason, but they usually ignore email queries.

Well, your proposal is not quite clear. What does “If you are serious about DTV” mean? I have been serious from the very beginning. Are you suggesting that I pay again, fill out all the forms again, and then they will send a request that I need to go through an interview, again not send me the link, and again everything will be lost for me?

That is not my proposal. I'm not from Thai Embassy. That is your only option if you want to apply for DTV again. Fact is- whenever Thai embassy rejects an application, there is no option to change it. You only can apply again

This makes all this visa application as void process. They charge money but do not process properly. This is 100% not my mistake

Poor to non-existent customer service by your description. I would request a chargeback by my bank/credit card company and go to a different country. Don’t want to risk any repetition.

I understand. They gave you the wrong email address. Or, they gave you one that wasn’t being monitored. That has to be the subject of your complaint. You complied with their instructions but they didn’t respond. You should ask them to reopen your application or let you apply again, free of charge.

Not acceptable. You have two options; make a personal visit to the embassy and ask to talk to the visa manager. Alternatively, ask your bank/credit card company to make a chargeback. They will ask the embassy for their explanation. If their explanation isn’t satisfactory or they fail to respond within 30 days you will get your money back.

I've seen in some cases that the interview date and hour, or a message on the lines of "come before September 5th" is written inside the visa portal itself.

You were given incorrect information. You followed their instructions and sent several emails but they failed to respond to any. You shouldn’t give up. You have a valid reason for complaint.

At this point, all you can do is request your bank/credit card company to make a chargeback. They will ask the embassy for an explanation. If they aren’t satisfied with the embassy’s explanation or the embassy fails to respond within 30 days you will get your money back.

clearly this guy doesn’t know anything. It would most likely not work. Culturally, “saving face” is important. Going up to an official and directly telling them it is their fault is asking for problems. If you are even able to get in contact with them, you need to do it in a much more humble manner. Apologize, highlight how the tech must have made an error, as the email with the invite never came through, etc.
