i applied for a dtv visa in ho chi minh on the 23rd at 1:00 pm. on march 2nd, i received a request for additional documents, and i submitted them the same day around 4:30 pm.
since then, i have not received any response. i expected the result within about 10 business days, so i am feeling quite anxious.
currently, we are living in thailand, and my childβs school vacation ends this week. because of this, we are considering giving up the dtv application and entering thailand instead.
if we abandon the dtv application and enter thailand, will there be any disadvantage or negative impact on the application? or would it be better to continue waiting for the result, even if it means my child has to miss some school?
i would really appreciate your advice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is anxious about their pending DTV visa application submitted in Ho Chi Minh, especially since they received a request for more documents. They are considering abandoning the application to enter Thailand due to their child's school vacation ending soon. The comments provide various perspectives, suggesting the user should wait a bit longer given the recent holidays impacting processing times, and highlight that abandoning the application will not likely reverse any fees paid.
I left Hanoi and the approval came a few hrs after I arrived back in Bangkok. I flew out a couple days later and reentered with the DTV. I'm not suggesting you take the risks...just sharing my story.
Now that you have submitted the application there is no un-doing to the best of my knowledge. Either way the fee ($400 from USA) will not be returned, so you might as well wait. The same thing happened to me. Submitted, they asked for more docs. I submitted same day.. in all about 3 weeks passed.. then I was declined. , fee lost. No reason given. I am more than qualified as a Digital Nomad too π€·ββοΈ. I will try again (from USA) after getting some guidance while in BKK in a week. Meanwhile I easily got a quick Tourist Visa to protect me from the possible visa free entry reduction that may occur. Always an adventure! π
It has only been 9 business days, if I am not mistaken, right? Also, the week before the 23rd was a week long holiday in Vietnam. Anyone who applied during that week would not have been reviewed during the week-long holiday, but would be ahead of you in the line, as if they submitted before you on the 23rd. So that means it will take slightly longer than normal.
