I applied for the DTV visa from Australia in mid-May, with a departure date to Thailand in mid-July. I still haven’t heard anything from them about my application, it has been on “pending approval” for about a month now.. any advice?
I’m a remote consultant working for a company that’s based in Australia, if that helps.
Has anyone had experience applying from the Australian embassy recently?
Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user expressed concern over their DTV visa application, which has been pending for over a month. Comments from others reveal mixed experiences, with some citing faster approvals through different Australian embassies, and others suggesting that applications with further travel dates may take longer. The discussion emphasizes the variable processing times based on embassy location and immediate travel plans.
I also feel that it is related to the travel date submitted during the application process. If you write that you will travel 2 months later, it will make you wait for a long time before processing your application.
Thanks all for the comments - I’ve applied through the Canberra embassy. Hoping that I’ll hear an answer soon as I’m planning to leave in less than a month
Anonymous participant I had mine approved within 7 days from Canberra, you might want to follow them up, or check spam box in your email...mine was for remote work
I think the Sydney Embassy is slower than Canberra. I actually trying calling them and after pressing 2 for Visas (or whatever the number was) it was a recorded message saying 'we are too busy processing to answer calls, please send an email to blah blah instead". So they must be under the pump!
