Update: Since our Vietnam visa expires on Jan 28, we are considering visiting the Thai Embassy in Hanoi tomorrow morning to check our status. Has anyone tried this recently? Does it actually help speed things up or do they just tell you to wait?
Hi everyone,
We are currently in Hanoi and looking for some insight from anyone who has applied here recently.
Our Situation:
Primary Applicant: Applied on Jan 11. Status changed to "Pending Approval" on Jan 14. No updates since then (today is the 7th working day).
Dependent (me): Status is "Request Document" with a message saying: "Please resubmit when the principal applicant has been granted the visa."
The Dilemma: Our Vietnam E-visas expire on January 28th. We are getting nervous about the timeline.
Has anyone who applied in Hanoi around Jan 10-12 received an approval yet?
If we don’t get the DTV by Jan 25/26, we plan to do a quick Visa Run to Laos to reset our Vietnam visa. Does anyone know if exiting/re-entering Vietnam while the DTV is "Pending" causes any issues with the Thai Embassy in Hanoi?
For dependents: Once I resubmit my application with my husband’s approved DTV, how long does the Hanoi embassy typically take to approve the dependent visa?
Thanks in advance for any shared experiences!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeking advice on the status of their Thai dependent visa application is considering visiting the Thai Embassy in Hanoi due to their Vietnam visa expiring soon. They report that their primary application is pending approval and express concerns about missing deadlines. Several commenters share their experiences with timelines and the embassy process, discussing whether a visit would expedite the application or if it would be more effective to wait for a decision.
Going to the embassy will probably accomplish nothing, Your lack of planning is not their problem, but who knows you might get lucky, suggest you contact them by email with an urgent subject line. There's no way the dependent is going to get their visa on this entry, they will need to return and do their own submission once you have your approved visa number.
How is this lack of planning? Don't most applicants enter Vietnam on 30-day visas? I guess they shouldn't have waited 10 days to submit their applications, but this doesn't seem something that can be avoided unless you get a 90-day multiple-entry visa.
I submitted my application on January 11, on January 14 I was asked to provide additional documents, which I submitted the same day, and I received my visa on January 16.
So approvals for applications from those dates are already happening. Hope this helps.
