What should I do after my DTV application was rejected and is there any impact on applying for a student visa?

Hey everyone! I have been in HCMC for about a month working on my DTV. I had all of the qualifications, they asked for more information and I provided those and it took a couple weeks to hear back. I just heard that I was rejected. Does anyone know if there’s an appeal process or have any suggestions? Also, would this affect applying for a student visa as an alternative?

TLDR : Answer Summary
After receiving a rejection for the DTV visa application, there is no available appeal process. You can reapply, but it’s advised to carefully review your submission details and ensure all paperwork is in order. Your rejection should not affect your ability to apply for a student visa, as long as you meet the necessary requirements for that visa category.

There is no appeal process, but you can certainly contact the embassy where you applied to try to get some clarification.

Keep in mind that the officers are looking for 4 main things.

1. That you are the person that you say you are (proof of identity).

2. That you possess the employment that you claim to possess, or that you are applying to a legitimate/approved course (proof of legitimacy).

3. That you have the funds that you say you have (proof of funds).

4. That you can support yourself while in Thailand (proof of income or finances).

...and of course that you follwed the directions in the application.

The decision has been made, and only thing you can do is to apply ( and pay ) again.

Next time apply with the full amount on your own personal account, no doggy sponsoring.

They wan’t to know you are an adult person, that can handle things yourself

Why dont you read the embassy website thoroughly before applying there are important information to be found both there and in the manual on the e-visa website top right corner.

There is no appeal process, You can reapply again as others have done. Applying for a student visa will not be affected. Seems your paperwork has a major issue going by the length of time to reply.

Absolutely no appeal mechanism available to you. You're going to have to give us a lot more detailed information on your submission scheme if you want an opinion on how to resubmit.

my mom. I don’t think that was the issue as none of the information they requested had to do with my sponsor. I think it might have been my income as they asked about that but I thought the sponsorship would cover that.

Sponsorship can be for the 500K in certain situations, but normally only for dependant visa with a letter from spouse, or for workcation with a letter from employer.

Apart from the 500K there should also be money somehow to live in Thailand, that is why they ask for income.

They will see you can care for yourself

It will be better if you "borrow" the 500K from your mum, deposit it in your account and apply yourself. Embassies do now ask about income for SPers but there is no minimum income requirement,

Sponsor is the issue most likely. Who was it and what kind of financials did they provide? Dependants or spouses typically get sponsorship letters, not independent grown adults

the class was. I went to HCMC because I read on here/other research that they are one of the better consulates for approval with a sponsor. I didn’t use an agent because my research on here and other sources said that it wasn’t necessary.

Yeah it is not necessary to have an agent. Sponsorship via the main DTV holder is easy in Vietnam and other countries. Sponsoring an adult is much more difficult. Some embassies will only approve adult sponsorship via an employer not family or friends.

I’m going to contact the consulate to see if they can let me know what the issue was. I might have to try the remote worker avenue instead of the soft power route.

If you read the embassy website you will know:

That is a great idea to apply via remote work if you have the option. If you can get insight into the issue that will be useful.
