What should you consider if you've been rejected for a DTV visa application in Thailand?

For people who successfully got the DTV after getting rejected, what were the reason of rejection you put in the application for your rejection. Does a rejection actually affect reapplication at all? HCMC is asking for more info and in case I get rejected would it harm my chances the second time to have that on my record or should I withdraw my application to protect my record? Does a rejection even need to be disclosed? Please help. Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
This Q&A discusses the implications of a visa application rejection for the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand. It explores concerns about what reasons to provide for a previous rejection, whether a rejection affects future applications, and the necessity of disclosing prior rejections. Various users share experiences, suggesting that being honest about rejections may enhance chances in subsequent applications, and that preparing additional documentation can be beneficial.

I did it myself and had additional paperwork requested. It was approved after that review. I didn't have to pay again. They were very clear about what other documentation was needed.

@Kristen ******
can u say what was missing, pls?! and how long do they govi u to submit again...
Kristen *******
Jessica Kadri There was no time limit. I returned the missing information in about a week. They needed a full bank account summary and the letter from my business needed a wet signature. I turned them in and was approved a few weeks later

In case of rejection, if you have a reason for the rejection (written on the email), you can attach to your next application and proactively disclose it and explain why it was rejected - I’d advise you do so if rejection is clearly written due to 1) Documents insufficient 2) Interviews no-show 3) other temporary issues.

If just a rejection without reason written then you can just go ahead do another application ina regular route, but more well prepared. :)

I hope this comment would go trash because your current application will pass! Good luck.

Can you even “withdraw” an application or would it just be classified as rejected anyway?

@John ******
according to this group a lack of paperwork would classify as withdrawal. But not enough sample data to suggest it’s a standard. That’s why im asking for more info. Similar to payment not completed on application i suppose

Anonymous participant 442 - I believe if you don’t supply the additional documents they ask of you, you would get a rejection, not a withdrawal . They will reject you based on the paperwork already submitted, which by asking for more documents, implies it isn’t sufficient.

I got approved after first rejection.

First application was with agent.

I got approved after I applied myself.

What I would recommend is you try in different country.

Good luck!

Anonymous participant 555 why did you get rejected? And did you disclose that same reason on the next application?
Anonymous ******************
Anonymous participant 442 reason? i have no clue actually. Agent did it all.

Anonymous participant 555 i see, so you didnt check any box that said you applied previously for a visa and got rejected? Just wondering how this works. Thanks for replying

Anonymous participant 555 Which agent did you use? I am about to use Baan Thai Solutions. Was it them?
Anonymous ******************
@Stephen ******
there is really no need to use an agent. You can do it all yourself

What are they asking for ?

What's your passport nation?

What purpose are you applying for?

Workation or soft power activity?

@James *******
i applied for a 6 month approved culinary school in bangkok for softpower route but they are treating me like a workcation. They wanted a direct confirmation with the cooking school despite the school issued standard formal packet application for dtv. Then they asked how a culinary school would factor into my stay for 5 full years, 6 months bank, full salary disclosure, business plan and my plan for this visa usage for softpower. This seems super strict. Im not sure why i even paid for the course if it’s even more work than the workcation route

Anonymous participant 442 Taiwan has being doing this since this year already.

Not knowing your overall background but

Just be patient and honest and supply the documents they asked for, write a good explanation letter attached to it. If you have something missing I’d suggest you explain as well.

In your case, the key is your income proof (freelance/FT job or even passive income - depends on your background), and your work proof.

Also it looks like thy have some doubt about your application so they ‘challenge’ you by checking if you’re being 100% honest.

thank you, im trying but I feel like the softpower route is more trouble than it’s worth. Like i paid extra 700$ to prove my worth and justify why i deserve to be in Thailand under a cooking course. But it was an approved course and time frame so I dont see what other reasons i can give besides what the country planned in designing softpower route. I could have just gotten a normal application for workcation. That’s insane.
Fiamma ******
Anonymous participant 442 True, if you can apply under workation I think you should do workation, also it’s always better than soft power in a longer term.

Agreed ✅

442 participante anônimo good to know... tks for sharing this!

Does it need to be disclosed: They will know you've already been rejected, so why risk being denied again for lying on your application?
Anonymous ******************
Anonymous participant 853 im not rejected. Im pending. How am i lying on an application? And according to this group, consulates dont cross share application information
