What should I know about my NON-O-A visa and re-entry permits when arriving in Thailand?

Hi I just have some queries to make sure my understanding of it all is correct. My husband and I have a non-Imm O-A multiple issued in Australia and we will arrive in Thailand on 23rd July. I know it is multiple entry in the first year and if we leave and return before it expires we can get 2 years out of it and the second year won't be multi entry. If we want to leave Thailand we need to get re entry permits, silly question but do you just get the re entry permit from the airport? When we arrive in Thailand do we have to attend immigration to verify our address? What form needs to be submitted and where do I get it from. Is there an internet site I can go to to get the form from and to also answer some of these questions. I have looked but can't seem to find it. I really appreciate any help I can get with this. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The NON-O-A multiple entry visa allows you to stay in Thailand for up to one year from the issuance date, with the possibility of getting an additional year by re-entering before expiration. You need to obtain re-entry permits if you leave Thailand after your second year begins. Upon arrival in Thailand, you must go through immigration and may need to submit form TM.30 to verify your address, although regulations vary by location. It's advised to check with the local immigration office for specific requirements and potential online resources.

Hi Tod. Can you please clarify something for me. My partner and myself have both got a non-O-A visa from Australia? Have just done our first 90 day report in Hua Hin. We are moving to Chiang Mai in the near future and then may have to go back to Australia for a short period. Does the 90 day reporting stop and then start again once we are back in Thailand? Did ask the question at immigration in HH but still not sure. The young man that assisted us didn’t have a huge command of English and I do not understand Thai. One thing though is the immigration centre in Bluport is great. Cheers

@Tod ********
thank you very much.

you only do a 90 day report when you're in the country 90 days.

Meaning if your 90 day report is due but you're NOT in the country you don't have to do it.

Your next 90 day report would be due 89 days from the date you return to thailand. (they count the day you arrive as day 1)

Thanks for that Tod. We are going to Hua Hin sorry forgot that bit. So I'm hoping immigration there is straight forward. Only 10 days now until we arrive and I can't wait. Thanks again Tod for the information

Hua Hin is a very good immigration office. You will need to report when you have a lease from your landlord. You do not need to report if you are away or leave the country. I used to go back to report in when I returned from Oz but they always ask "Are you still in the same place?" I say yes and they tell there is nothing to do.

This is something I wrote a while back about how to get the most out of a Non-O-A visa

Hope it helps

The way that visa works is:

It's good for unlimited entries for the validity of the visa (one year from the date it's issued). Each entry gets you stamped in for a whole year. SO if you enter the country just prior to the "enter before" date on the visa you'd get stamped in for a whole new calendar year (in essence getting TWO years of stay out of a visa valid for only one year).

You will need a re-entry permit ONCE you get your second year and the visa itself expires BUT that's a year off from the enter before date on the visa itself

It will help if you state where in thailand you intend to live because different immigration offices handle the TM.30 form differently.
