Follow up question.. Here on an extension of an OA visa. I want to travel. Did not a file on reentry form.

Is their a multiple reentry available or do I need to purchase a separate reentry every time I leave. And does there have to be an exact reentry date. Say I want to travel for a wile in a different country but I don’t know when I will return.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When you are on an extension of an OA visa, you need to purchase a re-entry permit before leaving Thailand, or your entry stamp will get canceled upon exit. You can buy a single re-entry permit for 1000 baht or a multiple re-entry permit for 3800 baht at immigration offices or airports. The re-entry permit allows you to return without losing your current visa status and is valid as long as your current entry stamp is valid. You can provide tentative return dates on the TM8 re-entry permit application, as the exact date does not need to be confirmed.

Re-entry permits are sold at the immigration office and at most international airports. Seeing as you are on an entry stamp from an OA visa that is expired (meaning it's multiple entry part is expired too) you need to buy one before you leave the country OR your entry stamp will cancel when you stamp out.

You can buy a re-entry permit at the Chaengwattana office in Bangkok they are 1000 baht for a single re-entry (meaning you can leave/come back ONCE) and 3800baht for a multiple re-entry (meaning you can leave/come back as many times as you want) Re-entry permits are valid for the length of your current entry stamp and when you do enter the country with it you will be stamped in until your current expiration date of the stamp you're here on now (Nov 8, 2022)

OR

You can by a re-entry permit at Suvarnabhumi airport
****
on the day you fly out

When you fill out the TM8 re-entry permit application form you can put tentative dates in, they don't check or care. As I said the the re-entry permit will be valid as long as your current extension stamp is valid for.

when you buy a single reentry and come back later, can you then buy a second reentry to keep the benefit of the stamped date or do you need to but multiple reentry in the first place ? Thanks !

The single entry re-entry permit can only be used once. However, a person can buy an unlimited amount of single entry re-entry permits. Remember though, the re-entry permit expires at the same time as your current extension of stay.

thank you. And I’m good with my current medical coverage I used to get the stamp? It has proof of Covid insurance but it’s foreign insurance company that met the requirements -not one of the 16 approved.

for NOW you are good exiting/re-entering

BUT

when you go to get the year extension at the immigration office at the end of this year you'll need to use one of the ones from the link I sent you

Okay now that we sussed out you're here on the free 'second year' entry stamp <- that you got by exiting/re-entering just before the visa sticker ran out, you can follow the info below on how to get a re-entry permit 🙂
