Can I apply for a re-entry permit on a 90-day Non-O visa in Thailand after returning to Australia?

Hopefully just a quick question.

I am in Thailand on a 90 day Non O due to marriage. I have not done the first 90 day report or applied for extension of stay yet.

I have roughly 6 was before I have to do something about it.

If I go back to Aus for 3mths can I apply for a re-entry permit or not.

Am I correct in thinking not, because I need to apply for extension of stay first and that my initial 90 entry visa would be void and I need a new one if I leave and go back beforehand.

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster is unsure about leaving Thailand on a 90-day Non-O visa based on marriage and whether they can apply for a re-entry permit before applying for an extension of stay. They have been informed that leaving Thailand before completing the 90 days would void their current visa, requiring a new visa upon return. They are advised to apply for the extension of stay before departing, as this would allow them to apply for a re-entry permit that enables them to return without needing a new visa.

You can apply between 30 days before until the last day of your current stay, but as you know the application goes 1 month under consideration.

I guess, best option is to apply for a new visa while being in Australie.

Ok, got it. Thank you Robert.

First: The re-entry permit lets you come back using the same stay as you have now, you will get the same Admitted to stay date stamped on entry, it seems no option for you at the moment as you leave for 3 months.

Thanks Robert, so if I apply for extension of stay, how soon can I do it. Admitted stamp till 22 March 2022. If I have yo go back to Aust in two weeks I won't have enough time right?

Might be easier to go and apply for the extension of stay first I think. How soon can I do it before the 90 days is up? Other question is how long do I wait for the consideration date to be approved. If it's a month we'll I have to go back to Aust in a few weeks so I guess that won't work out?

Let see if I understand.

You came to Thailand using a Single Entry Non Immigrant O visa based on marriage and got 90 days of stay.

You are still in this 90 day period.

If you leave before the Admitted until date, this visa and stay will be cancelled and you have to apply for a new visa when you decide to come back to Thailand.

OR

you can apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay based on marriage, when stamped in the passport you apply for a re-entry permit and you can visit Australia and come back using the re-entry permit.

Hi Robert, yes I arrived on a 90 day visa based on marriage. I need to go back to Aust in next few weeks. Can I apply forva re-entry permit to come back. Or, I need to either apply for an extension of stay based on marriage first so I don't need to apply for a new 90 visa in Aust just to come back.
