My bankbook made overwrites on itself at update. Lines over each other.

Asked Bangkok Bank to correct this in some way.

Can not. They say.

What will immigration say ??

Anybody had this problem.

Two pages in the book was damaged and unreadable.

That was the problem.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing issues with a damaged bank book, which is causing concerns over immigration requirements. Comments from others suggest various solutions, including requesting a detailed transaction printout from the bank, updating the bank book at the branch instead of an ATM, and acquiring a signed and stamped statement from the bank to satisfy immigration. It's also mentioned that recent changes in immigration offices might complicate things, but having proper documentation, like a year statement and updated records, can generally resolve the issues.

Most on the banks you can actually request the monthly or yearly statement through the online platform. download it as a pdf.

Then you can print it yourself

Yes, but only 6 months usually.

One yr trough head office. Takes 3- 5 days.

Imm. only accept prints signed by bank, not pdf.

They sign my 1 year statement at the bank. You would have to check to see if an unsigned home printout would be acceptable.
Johan ********
Immigration wants a signed and stamped statement. I never showed my book.
Daniele ********
you just ask for a statement (200 baht ) and bring it along with the book

agree I’ve done this before. I’ve also printed from my ktb online banking to cover dates . No problem at immigration

lmmigration in Nakhonphanom are crazy,

They argue about everything.

All expats here are upset.

Sorry to hear that, I am lucky in Kanchanaburi Office, last 3 years in and out for extension renewal in 30 minutes. Small office, never more than a handful of foreigners there, very friendly staff. Good luck.

Nakhonphanom used to be friendly, I live here for ten yrs.

New boss wants to show that he is the boss.

It will be ok but he will go around and shout for an hour.

Update the book at the branch rather than the ATM. The teller can get the print on the right line

What the branch did for me in the past is to print the range of transactions, photocopy it to a smaller size and then stick this in the book, stamp over it and sign it. It's they who advised me to do updates in the future inside the branch

@Steve *******
good idea. The other good idea that others have mentioned is to get a printout that backs up the book.

the point is it’s already done.

Do what Tod says but if all you want to do is clarify an overwritten page then you can get a 3 month bank statement same day probably for free.

Interesting. I never update my bank book except on the day of my extension application. There is nothing in the bank book to compare too. I doubt I have three pages filled after 6 years. Good luck.

To extend here in Nakhonphanom you need.

One yr statement

Bank letter from the same day.

Bank book updated same day.

Bank book and one yr statement is compared.

I have done ten yrs now.

New boss since three yrs.

He invented new rules, before no problems.

He want to show that he is the boss. All expats living here are afraid of him.

Hope they change him soon.

OK then a 1 year statement is easy to do. I’ve done it for the past 3 years to extend my OA visa.

Maybe, but then you has to explain two books in a year. And they can not update back in time.

I asked them about this.

Thai standard answer : No can do....
Marty *********
@Pär *******
Get a new bank book? Then update that?

I have done that.

But new boss in Nakhonphsnom will be confused ad start to argue.

He will let it go after arguing a lot.

Happend to one guy last year.
Stuart ********
Make lots of small withdrawals and print the next lot on an empty page. That might help.
Stuart ********
@Tod ********
yes but depending on timings of transactions that might help. If you need 800k to show and it doesn’t by making more transactions they will show. Timings might not help as I don’t know your circumstances.
Tod *********
@Stuart *******
it isn't going to show the transactions that got printed together on one line though, just following transactions. 🙁 when you update a bank book you got ONE SHOT to get the previous transactions printed and whether it jams or prints fine after that it only will print subsequent transactions
Tod *********
Go to your bank and ORDER the year detail transaction history print out.

Some banks can print it on the spot (TTB, SCB) some banks need 5 days to get it from the home office.

That will be a print out month by month of every transaction on the account and will make up for the book jamming up in the updater
