What should I do about my Non-Immigrant-B visa and work permit before leaving Thailand for the UK?

Hi I have a question,

I am on a Non Immigrant-B visa

and also have a work permit.

Both would need renewal/expire

in April next year.

I plan to leave Thailand in December 21st to move back to the UK. My employer/manager has agreed to me leaving the company etc.

Now there was a previous post about needing a letter of termination from the employer.

What would my situation be? Do I simply leave and the exit stamp just voids the visa and work permit?

Or must I take other action to terminate them and state that I won’t be continuing until the expiry?

Please let me know.

Many thanks,

Alex.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Alex is planning to leave Thailand on December 21st and is concerned about his Non-Immigrant-B visa and work permit, both expiring in April. He asks if he needs to take formal action to terminate them before leaving, or if departing simply voids them. Community responses emphasize the importance of cancelling the work permit and the extension of stay based on employment before leaving to avoid complications in the future.

As you acknowledged and signed to understand the rules, go and cancel your work permit and Extension of Stay.

As a rule, you have to cancel your work permit and then your extension of stay based on employment when you leave Thailand. Cancelation applications can be done in advance a few days or weeks.

If you would leave Thailand for good and wouldn't come back to Thailand on any long-term visa/extension, practically you can just leave and let them expire. If you have an idea to be back to Thailand on any Non-immigrant type visa even slightly, cancel them before you leave, or you would get an issue when you apply for a long-term extension in the future. You may need some extra procedure to cancel them later and possibly a maximum of 20K thb fine for overstay/fail-to-cancel.

You need the WP cancelled. At airport you may get away with it not being cancelled but borders want the cancellation papers. Ask him to write a letter then take it to WP office.

Do you have a visa or an extension of stay ?
