How do I properly cancel my Non Imm B visa and work permit when leaving Thailand for Australia?

I live in Udon Thani and have a Non Imm B visa which my school extends for me each year. It expires on Friday 11th October. This year i have decided to return to Australia for 2 years to qualify for my pension but I will be back and so want to do everything by the book. Supposing I book a flight from Bangkok on 11th, finish work on 4th October and hand my work permit to the school on that day? In the intervening 7 days , do I need to inform immigration (say ,on the Monday ) and do I need to cancel my extension) and if it needs to be cancelled , can it be done in advance so that I can fly on 11th? I would be grateful for any advice,

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on the process of cancelling their Non Imm B visa and work permit before returning to Australia. They plan to finish working on October 4th and want to know if they need to inform the immigration office and whether they can cancel their visa extension in advance. Responses indicate that both the work permit and visa extension can be cancelled early with the proper letter from the employer, allowing for plans to return on October 11th without issues.

If you are Australian..

Have lived and worked in Australia for 35 years between the ages of 16 and pension age I believe you do not need do the 2 years in residence.. They will take some of the supplimental benefits off you like power and something else because they are cheap and nasty..

But on the web site you qualify

You can cancel both in advance. Get a letter from your employer stating you finish work on the 11th. I understand you worry because you actually stop working on the 4th but you did forget you build up and still have 7 days leave πŸ˜‰. Go two to three weeks before, with this letter to the Ministry of Labor and cancel your WP on the 11th, than visit the Immigration office to cancel your Extension of Stay with the documents of Ministry of Labor and letter from your employer. If both done, have a good fligh back to aus on the 11th.

Thank you , .. My school has told me that they will deal with the Labour Office and just need my work permit. I will give it to them a few weeks before and explain the situation. Thanks again

Yes, It can be done early. You need a letter from your school signed by the director stated that your work contract is finished and your last date of work is Oct. 11.

David Broadfoot, No, I know someone who couldn't get 7days for denial at immigration office at the last day. She had no choice other than to change the flight to that day to fly-out.

maybe I shouldn't hand back my work permit on 4th either...ask a colleague to do it on 11th?

Thanks for your advice, i know it;s several months away , but it has been puzzling me. I will ask the school to write a letter to immigration stating my contract and employment cease on 11th and i will ask my school for 5 days leave without pay before I finish.. :)..

And it's not 100% you can get it for that 7days.

yup, just like the price of yearly visa extension TM7 :) ..sadly only 7 days. :(

Thanks, although I have a very good relationship with the school, I am a little hesitant about asking them to state something in a letter which isnt strictly true... but if it's the only way to do it?
