What should I consider when applying for a Thai visa while abroad and regarding financial requirements?

I have two questions that I have looked for and I couldn't find any answers. If I missed something, I apologize.

1. If I apply in my home country and leave to another country (not thailand) before the approval, could that be an issue? and

2. I was asked for 500k THB (12500 Euro) which is less than 500k THB - did anyone get approved with only 12500 Euro instead of the 500k thb equivalent in Euro? I could get the money, but I wouldn't sell more stocks to realize gains/pay taxes and have it sitting around in a savings account if it can be avoided :D

Thanks a lot

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster is inquiring about two main issues regarding the Thai visa application process. First, they want to know if leaving for another country (not Thailand) after applying in their home country could complicate visa approval. Second, they are uncertain whether having 12,500 Euro suffices for the financial requirement instead of the full 500,000 THB in baht. Responses suggest that the financial amount may be acceptable as long as it meets the embassy's specified amount in local currency, and some users recommend maintaining a slightly higher balance to be safe.

Would you really risk loosing 10.000 baht, instead of waiting in the country, until you are granted the visa.

thanks. It's weird that only the dutch website says that. I also mailed the Frankfurt embassy (they won't pick up the phone) and I'll report back if I hear more

Can't say about number 1, but about number 2, the amount in local currency is fixed by each embassy. In some cases it might be slightly over or below the 500K baht threshold, however, as long as it's over by the amount fixated by the Embassy, it should be good. Assuming the amount in local currency was told/is written by the Embassy and not a conversion of your own.
