Will my financial documentation be accepted for a Thai visa considering the new rule on maintaining 500,000 THB?

Hi, a few weeks ago I booked an appointment in Laos. Now, I have read many comments about the new rule requiring 500,000 THB banked for 6 months. I keep my money in my brokerage account and withdraw money as needed for living in Thailand. Recently, I withdrew 500,000 THB to my Thai bank account just to show a statement for DTV. In my 6-month statement, I withdrew and spent 2.4 million THB, or 400,000 THB per month. It is less than 500,000 THB per month. But I can show a statement from my brokerage account with an amount much greater than 500,000 THB. Also, I have a job contract, salary payment documents, and a portfolio. Will they accept it? Should I choose another Thai embassy? I booked all my flights, hotels, etc., and do not want to lose them just because of this new formal rule.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarity on whether having 500,000 THB shown in a brokerage account, along with a job contract and other financial documentation, will suffice for their visa application, given the new immigration rule requiring a minimum of 500,000 THB banked for six months in Thailand. Community comments provide mixed advice, emphasizing that Thai immigration typically prefers funds in a Thai bank account and noting that rules can vary by location and officer.

In Vietnam, the embassy asked for a 6-month statement and the final balance in the account was 500,000 baht, my account balance was not enough, so I submitted a savings book with 500,000 baht.

I was at vientiane embassy for my dtv 1 week ago. I had many months of transactions, but only 1 months final balance. The guy said he needed to see 2 months final balance, and sent me away. An hour later I went back to him, and he took my papers but was shaking his head and was not happy. I got my dtv though!

generally, Thai immigration want money in your Thai bank account. anything else is irrelevant.

just follow the rules. Thai immigration always demanded money in the Thai bank account. so I don't think this is a new rule.

try to follow the rules to the dot very precisely when working with Thai immigration. this is how it is

The DTV is a MFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) Visa - Immigration do not issue it - the MFA do. For the issuance of the visa you are NOT working with Thai Immigration. The money for a DTV does NOT have to be in a Thai bank account. It is not the same as an "O" for Retirement or Spouse for example where the money must be seeded in a Thai bank account.

I do understand the points mentioned by you and anon.

I tried to inform how that immigration normally operates.

if you want to litigate their attitude with "but your website said", you'll be right technically.

I'm not sure this is going to actually help

my recommendation is to try and go above board. and listen to others who did it rather than relying solely on DTV website

Jazi Zilber, The money requirements here are not down to Immigration for the initial visa. You are NOT dealing with Immigration for the initial issuance of the DTV. The money does NOT have to be in a Thai bank - simple. It could not be clearer

According to the DTV visa rules, I can show money in any bank account. I cannot follow the rules if they change them every 2 weeks.
