TLDR : Answer Summary
Once your visa is extended at Chaeng Wattana, you typically cannot extend it further for another 30 days. Your options include leaving Thailand and re-entering on a new visa exempt entry stamp, or obtaining a single-entry tourist visa at a Thai consulate in a nearby country. It's important to note that you can only receive one 30-day extension under certain visa categories.

Your choice (depending on your nationality) is got to the border, stamp out of thailand, stamp in&out of another country then stamp back into thailand to get a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp

OR

go to a thai consulate in a nearby country to get a single entry tourist visa.

I saw that at Vientiane we have to do an online appointment booking. However does savannakhet require an online appointment booking as well?

You can get ONE 30 day extension on a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp or a 60 day tourist visa entry, that's it.
