Hi People.. bit confused about the new 60 days visa. Being Australian we hold a passport to enter Thailand

For 30 days and can get 30 day extension. Do I  have to apply for the 60 days visa separately so I can get a 60 day extension . Or has the

Currently, visa-exempt entry is for 60 days upon entry and is eligible for one 30-day tourism extension.

You can apply for ONE 30-day tourism extension when you enter on a visa-exempt or an actual tourist visa.
