Hi all, my STV expires on the 29th of December 2021 however I was hoping to stay in Thailand for New Years. What, if any, options do I have?

If I overstayed my visa by a few days would I have to pay a fee at airport immigration? If so, how much would that be?

Cheers.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking options for extending their stay in Thailand after their Special Tourist Visa (STV) expires on December 29, 2021, especially concerning staying for New Year's. They inquire about the implications of overstaying, including potential fees. Responses suggest they might request a 7-day extension at immigration on the expiry date, but it is emphasized that overstaying incurs a fee of 500 THB per day, up to a maximum of 20,000 THB. Extensions may be available, including a possible COVID-related extension.

You could try asking for Covid extension on or just before November 26th.

Like Benjamin said, do not overstay, period.

If he is in one of the provinces that immigration offices allow people to apply for an extension when 45days remain... It is more than 30days even if he tries on the last day, so the application wouldn't be accepted at most immigration offices...

ASSUMING The 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 is NOT extended (which probably, hopefully will not be extended), your only option is to ask the immigration on December 29th to give you a 7 day extension of stay denied stamp. You will have 7 days from the time the stamp is issued to leave the country.

>If I overstayed my visa by a few days would I have to pay a fee at airport immigration?

Yes, the fee is 500 THB a day, with a maximum of 20K THB. DO NOT OVERSTAY!
