Hey Everyone,

So my visa extension has been denied once more. The hotel i stayed at is maintaining they cannot issue the document that i quarantined there, and the immigration office will not extend my visa without it. I am currently on the STV. I have a couple of more things i can try to do, but i think its best i create a plan B and C. My visa expires on Jan 28th. Im canadian and my original plan was to stay here until end of July.

1) can i change to another visa instead, and if so, what is the longest i can extend my stay in thailand for?

2) is there a way to go to cambodia, or another birdering country and then re-enter thailand? Im assuming that would mean going to phuket and quarantining for 7 days.

Thanks to all in advance. You're all a great help and providing a really good service on here during covid times.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user faces difficulties with a denied visa extension due to a lack of documentation from their quarantine hotel while on a STV. They explore changing to another visa or making a border run to Cambodia, although it's clarified that STV cannot be switched to another visa and that the border run may involve significant costs and challenges. Ultimately, the user resolves their situation after further discussions with immigration.

Cambodia is possible but the cost is high, just as a part of the costs you will have to spend 4000 Bath for a PCR test in Phnom Phen and over
*****
Bath for the return flight to Phuket via Singapore.

I will do this starting next weekend, but will travel Cambodia before returning.

Good luck to you. I hope it all works out for you smoothly. Thankfully, Thai immigration will help where they can, and I got my extension approved last minute. I had everything in order, except for this document, including email correspondence going back and forth with the hotel and looks like that was enough in my case. I would NOT recommend anybody else doing what i did. I would think chances are you will have problems and likely get denied.

Why is the hotel unable to issue the document? Are they not an approved quarantine hotel? Did you not complete the entire quarantine period at that hotel? Something seems amiss here.

This was my question as well. It was very confusing to hear from both employees i talked to that they did not know what document i was referencing too. I even showed the email to the immigration officer and he was equally as confused.

why dont you ask immigration--I was always welcomed with my questions at immigration/hat yai,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

@Jo ******
The immigration office is hard on STVs and it's clear, they do not allow changes.
Ellie *******
STV entry cannot be changed to any other visa/extension.

Cambodia is "possible".

You can always try to apply at another immigration but you need to change your place of residence and file a new TM30 form.

Not going to work. The 90 day extension of stay based on STV will require a pre-paid (:O) hotel or a rental agreement where he is staying.

And to answer this:

So my visa extension has been denied once more.

What Extension did you apply for, what is the visa used and what is the reason for not approving your application?

Was it just verbally or did they put the official stamp in your passport?

Please if you like information, start sharing details in stead of a random phrase and let everybody guess what happened.

Hi Everyone, so everything worked out, just 2 hours ago. I went back explain to the immigration officer my situation, and he approved everything on the spot. Robert and Ben, I probably should have clarified they did not actually process my application, but put in on hold while i worked on their requests for approval. Once again, I appreciate your time and effort to help me. Strange times we live in these days. Kop Khun Krap!
Benjamin ******
@Robert ******
That is an excellent point.
@Gilbert ****
what reason was your second application denied? And just to confirm, this is a verbal rejection, correct?
Robert *******
@Dan ******
Thanks for your opinion. But please answer my questions so I can give advice.

His first application was as Benjamin mentioned for 90 days, I have still no idea about his second application.

@Robert ******
He applied for a 90 day extension of stay based on STV.

The reason for not approving the application is being the test-n-go hotel doesn't want to provide the proper documents.
