Hi guys. I came into the country in a STV. I have extended it three times and then was on the covid extension since end of December. When I went to extend today in Koh tao, they told me I cant extend and I need to leave the country.

Does anyone else have experience with the STV and the covid extension?

I have read contradicting posts, some saying the STV is a tourist visa and can switch to covid extension, others saying it's not possible.

Thanks in advance for your help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the possibility of extending their Special Tourist Visa (STV) after several extensions and a Covid-related extension, but has been told by immigration officials in Koh Tao that further extensions are not allowed. Comments suggest that the STV is not viewed as a regular tourist visa and highlight that immigration policies have become stricter.

Thai Immigration Officers are under orders to be stricter in granting any extensions. You entered on a STV which said max of 270 days. You managed to get a COVID extension. Now the Officer is following orders.

The STV is being interpreted as NOT a normal tourist visa by most

STV is short for: Special Tourist Visa.

You are correct that Special makes it not a normal tourist visa.
