What options do I have to extend my STV in Thailand before September 30th?

Hello.

I am a French citizen and I came on August 16th with a stv (I know, big mistake…) and was stamped until November 12th.

I know that stv willl be abandoned at the end of September so I am correct in assuming that my only option to extend my stay in Thailand is to ask the extension of my stv (90 days) before September 30 and be potentially allowed to stay until December 28th?

Thanks in advance for your advice .

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster, a French citizen in Thailand on a Special Tourist Visa (STV) set to expire on November 12, is seeking advice on how to extend their stay. They inquire about applying for an extension of the STV before September 30 to potentially stay until December 28. Comments suggest possible actions, including applying for a 60-day extension based on COVID-19 travel restrictions, and personal experiences indicate extensions may be granted at some immigration offices.

Sadly, I can't see a purpose in keeping commenting open. Jessica would have to ask her local immigration office what their policy is, and if it's possible to get an extension of stay.

This is also an English Only group, and we don't allow commenting in other languages.

Thank you

Hi Jessica,

I am also on an STV, got my first 90 day extension, taking me to 25 Dec.

The very helpful immigration officer and her boss, discussed the 2nd extension situation, checked their information.

They both told me that it would be granted without a hitch. On the strength of this I have changed my flight, back to France, for March 2022.

It will be interesting to hear from anyone on an STV, being refused.

Remember though, different immigration offices have different policies, and what applies to your immigration office may not apply to her immigration office.

There isn't much advice anyone can give you 🙁

MOST immigration offices allow a person to apply for an extension of stay when they have 45 days or less remaining on their existing stamp. 45 days past September 30 is November 14, so if you apply on September 30th, you *MAY* be able to extend it (maybe...).

Another option is to *TRY* and acquire a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 on September 27 (the last day they are selling those extension of stays). If they sell it to you, you can stay until November 26th. However, they *MAY* extend the 60 day extension of stays beyond September 27th.

(I have not seen anyone get the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 from an STV yet, but I ALSO haven't seen anyone be formally rejected when they apply for that extension of stay for an STV yet either).

Jessica Hrtl, Benjamin is right on the money ! You might get that last extension by getting in under the wire on day 44 prior, Sept 30th

Yes, and if they say no, ask for a 60-day Covid extension/ unable to travel
