What is the visa process and cost at the Ban Phu Nam Ron border crossing from Myanmar to Thailand?

I went to the Ban Phu Nam Ron border crossing with Myanmar this morning. I got a 30 day visa exemption for 960 baht, which includes the several km trip to the actual border and back. You need to find the small counter on the left as you arrive. I came with proof of funds, flight out and a hotel booking, although none were asked for. I would still recommend having these as back up if anything is questioned.

Quite a busy little crossing these days, so fairly safe to leave your transport parked up for the hour or so it takes. There’s even a nice aircon coffee shop and a few other shops in the vicinity.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Ban Phu Nam Ron border crossing from Myanmar to Thailand allows travelers to obtain a 30-day visa exemption for the cost of 960 baht. This fee covers transportation across a few kilometers of no-man's land, as well as the immigration stamping process for both Thailand and Myanmar. It’s advisable to carry proof of funds, return flight tickets, and hotel bookings, even if they aren't routinely requested. The border has become busy and offers amenities like a coffee shop nearby. It is suggested that this crossing is more convenient and typically has fewer issues than others, like the Aranyaprathet/Poipet crossing.

I'm sooooo sorry for this totally off topic. But did you get any additional stamp in your arrival/departure card?

Someone also went to Ban Phu Nam Ron border several days ago and got "Batman" on TM6. Just wondering what this means.

Didn't seem any others got one or maybe they just didn't notice. Used that service from Bangkok with multiple entry non-B.

No further specific situation on the way to enter Thailand.

Since this Batman on the arrival card part, not more information.

I know this is off topic so please OP or admin delete this in case...

Julian Hi i sent u pm. I have some question i hope u open it 🙂

There is NO problem mentioning in country companies that lug people to the border to get visa exempt entry stamps or to activate another entry on a multi-entry visa OR to mention ones that lug people to other countries to get visas for thailand at nearby consulates

The ones that most people use in bangkok are

The question is about agents, so I’m happy to answer here. I travelled independently, which I recommend from Kanchanaburi. There are also agents who go daily in a minivan from Bangkok and pick up in Kan.

There is NO FEE for a stamp into thailand at that border crossing, the 960 baht the O/P paid was only to get ferried across the several km of no-manz-land, get stamped in&out of burma then get ferried back to thailand.

@Julian ********
it's hit or miss, it was closed for a while not that long ago while they hashed out a new company that takes you thru no-manz-land. Now that that's sorted out there're ok again for bouncing out and back in.

Although AFAIK they will NOT let people from the countries that get 90 day visa exempt entries bounce out and back in there, only people who get 30 day visa exempt entries OR who are activating another entry on a valid multi-entry visa.

No problem. Long may this border crossing prosper!

The reason I spelled it out
@Julian ********
, is that some people might have wrongly read into your post that you paid 960 baht for your entry stamp to thailand, when indeed you did not. :)

Thanx for the update..

A pretty useful service for anyone doing multi-entry visa border runs too. Less than an hour from Kanchanaburi.

Exactly Tod. There is no other choice. If you want to go there for a visa exempt 30 days, it costs you 960 baht. There is no visa, you are paying for the service obviously.
Steve *******
You paid for a 30 day visa exemption to enter Thailand?
Gregor **********
of course the 30-day visa exempt is free of charge. You read it wrong in his post because he spelled it a bit confusing in a way or the other
Steve *******
@Gregor *********
Not the point mate. You dont pay 960bt for a 30 day visa exemption to enter Thailand. Savvy?
Gregor **********
@Steve ******
you could avoid the 960 Baht and start walking through no-mans-land between TH and Myanmar across the dirt road and through the potholes. Maybe smeone comes to your help halfway and offers you to carry the load for 860 Baht, 100 Baht cheaper
Steve *******
@Da***
Yep, that's what I was trying to clarify, so other members were not confused that there might be a fee for the Thai visa exemption at that border crossing
Danny **********
It’s the service of crossing and stamping in Myanmar. It’s not a fee to stamp into Thailand on 30day visa exemption. A bit expensive but it’s a nice little monopoly.
Paul *********
I think he just worded it badly Steve.
Ivan ************
The fee is all-inclusive and covers the taxi service to Myanmar and back, plus the day pass fee for Myanmar immigration. I think when I did it several years ago it was a little cheaper, maybe I paid 700-800 after negotiating. Sounds busier now, there was nothing there when I did it and a guy took you in a car to go over, just on your own, there was no bus involved.

The actual border is several kilometers down a dirt road, after the Thai post, and Myanmar immigration further again, so it's not something you can just walk across by yourself.

Key is it is a very convenient border to Bangkok or Kanchanaburi and seems to have less "issues" with people doing same day bounces than Aranyaprathet/Poipet. It's also cheaper, when you consider the Cambodian visa.

@Pa**
Yes, I was trying to clarify if the OP actually paid for the visa exemption to Thailand as he stated.
Paul *********
The bus takes about 10 minuets to cross the boarder but it’s a dirt road that’s a bit up and down, not sure of actual distance.

It crosses stops by a duty free shop they take your passport get stamps and pay the fee to enter Myanmar, then drive you back. Fee is probably $10 so the rest of the 960.- is for the bus ride.

I did it a couple of months ago. Not a bad trip just 3 and half hours from BKK.

@Pa**
Yeah I get that but the OP stated he paid 960bt for a few klicks travel and the visa exemption to enter Thailand,
Paul *********
That fee is for the bus across the boarder and back. They also take care of stamping in and out of Myanmar.

No other options at that boarder.
