Good evening everyone

I want to go to thailand to spend my holiday with my fiancée for 53 days, but I can't understand the validity of the thai visitor visa. On my old thai visitor visas, I have an expiry date that says, "visa must be used by" with the date on it, but on google it says that I have to apply for visa one month before departure, how can I be sure I can spend my 53 days without exceeding the visa validity?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Thai tourist visa is valid for 3 months from the date of issue, allowing you to enter Thailand at any point within that timeframe. Upon entry, a 60-day stay is typically granted, which can be extended for an additional 30 days. For a 53-day holiday, acquiring a single-entry tourist visa before travel is advisable. As a Romanian citizen, you can either opt for a visa on arrival for a 15-day stay or apply for a tourist visa through the Thai embassy in Bucharest, which provides a clearer option for longer stays.

Not all countries are the same, some get visa on entry, other countries must apply at the embassy for one before arrival. For best advice check the Thai embassy website in your country... it should give you info that applies for your nationality

The Visa validity date is the LAST day you can enter Thailand and get a 60 day entry stamp. You do not have to use your 60 days within the validity date.

the "tourist visa" is valid for use, for 3 months from the date of issue. So there is nothing to be lost if you apply 30 to 60 days in advance of your planned entry

he seems to be a Romanian citizen.

Romanians must EITHER buy a visa-on-arrival at the airport for 2000.- THB, and will get stamped in for 15 days, which cannot be extended. OR alternatively for a 53-days stay, apply for a single or multiple entry tourist visa in person at the Royal Thai Embassy Bukarest. They are NOT connected to the E-visa online system . . . . . . .here are the requirements:

I assume you're talking about a 60 day single entry tourist visa?? Applying through the Thai e-visa system?? I think it depends where you apply, at which embassy/consulate, some take a few days others have reported waiting for months, you just need to enter Thailand before the validity period ends, it's valid for 3 months from the date of issue to enter Thailand, if you mention your passport nation you will get better advice.

When going to Thailand for 31 - 60 ( 90 )days, the 60 days touristvisa is the best option.

It is cheaper than visaexcempt + 30 days extension.

No need of a onward ticket ( 90 days 1 onward ), if returnticket within 60 days.

It is easier to apply from the comfort of your home.

thaievisa.go.th

Not wasting holiday time to find, go to and waiting at a immigration office ( 90 you would need that ).

No need to leave Thailand in up to 90 days.

On arrival you will get a visa excemtion for 30 days. You can exstend it for 30 more days at immigration. Cost 1900 baht

Not everyone gets a 30 day Visa Exempt entry and certainly not with a Romanian passport

why take time out of his holiday sitting in immigration when he can get a tourist visa for 60 days if he plans ahead? Visa exempt with an extension is fine if one doesn’t have the 60-day visa for whatever reason.

Once you receive a tourist visa it's valid to be used for 90 days from the day it's issued. So you must enter Thailand within those 90 days. Once you enter you'll be stamped in for 60 days.

You can apply for the visa as long as you'll be traveling within 90 days. So 30-60 days before your trip is probably a good time to apply.
