Does the 400,000 baht requirement for a Non-O marriage visa extension have to be in my name, or can it be in my Thai wife's name?

Applying for an initial 90 day non-O visa in country at the immigration office or for the yearly extension after that based on marriage to a thai the 400K baht has to be in a thai bank account in your name only.

SOME <- read that exactly for what it says (a few) will allow a joint account (you and your thai wife)

BUT

you would need to have DOUBLE the required funds (half is yours, half is your wife's in the eyes of the thaiz) So you'd need to bank 800K baht and that's IF your immigration office would allow it.

Your funds of 400K thb have to be in a Thai bank account with your name only.

Or you may be able to use the joint account with your wife's name, but the balance has to be 800K. In the joint account, the average by the number of names is considered yours.

You cannot use a bank account of your wife's name only.
