Does the 400,000 THB financial proof apply for only the initial 90-day Non-O Visa or also for an extension in Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The 400,000 THB financial requirement does not apply to the initial 90-day single-entry Non-O Visa. It is only necessary when applying for an extension of stay based on marriage in Thailand. When transitioning to a one-year extension, applicants must prove that the minimum amount has remained in their bank account for at least two months prior to application.

you can technically get roughly 15 months out of a non-o multiple visa
Bobby ****
yea, that is also true. i just did that actually a few months ago.

if you are on a year-long, multi-entry Non-O based on marriage you can get 17 months out of it
@Bo***
, You bounce just prior to the "enter before" date to get the final 90 days and then you extend that by 60 days under the "visit family" clause for 1900baht at the immigration office. ;)

@Ja***
, You have a year-long, multi-entry visa which means every time you enter thailand for the validity of the visa you're stamped in for 90 days.

You can be out of the country for long as you want. As long as you re-enter on or before the "enter before" date on your visa (which in your case is the 7th of Nov 2018) you'd get stamped in for 90 more days.

Last question..Sorry for the ignorance. If I left Thailand on 85days...Do I have to get back by the 90day or doesn't matter how long I am oversea?

one more thing about that year-long, multi-entry Non-O is you can get about 17 months of in-country stay out of that visa. Make sure you border-bounce one final time just prior to the "enter before" date on the visa itself, that gets you 90 days and takes you to the 15th month, then you can apply for the 60 day visit family extension at the immigration office for 1900 baht which requires no financial proof and takes you to 17 months.

The 90 days that cross after the 'Enter Before' date is valid and won't be consider expire.. Just double sure if anyone get into issue before doing this.

Okay
@Ja***
, the way that visa works is you get stamped in for 90 days and when that winds down you exit/re-enter the country to get another 90 day stamp. You do this for the validity of the visa (1 year).

You NEVER do a 90 day report at the immigration office because on that visa you can't stay longer than 90 days.

Now if you want to convert the visa to a year extension of stay based on marriage at the immigration office for 1900baht you'd show the 400K baht in the bank the requisite amount of time before you apply for the extension or show a letter from your consulate stating you have 40K baht in income per month.

You could apply for a yearly extension when you have 30 days or less left on your admitted until stamp.

Cool thanks mate

@Pa**
, the money has to be seasoned (meaning it can't drop below the 400K) for 2 months prior to your application for the extension.

Update that I got my Non O multiple entry in Singapore. Is actually quite hassleless but need to submit all require documents online first.

I'm am still abit confuse, so every 90 day I need to go in and out of Thailand, can I stay beyond 90 days by doing reporting at immigration department?
Orawan ***********
As far as I understood that you have to cross the border every 90 days
Dave ***********
The 400k doesn’t apply for the single entry 90 day non o. You will need it only when you apply for the extension when in Thailand.
Dave ***********
Ok, I never heard of such requirement in my 20 years here, but will stand corrected. He said he was going to the Singapore consulate so I stated what I know having gone through the same in Singapore.

Yes in Singapore it state 2 months.
Tod *********
@Ja***
, You need to read the requirements posted on the website of the consulate you're going to apply at.

In Penang, no, they don't care how long the money has been in the bank,

Are the Consulates strict about having a 2 month deposited period for the 40k?
Tod *********
@Da**
, All consulates do NOT have the same criteria as far as what is required, the 400K baht is indeed a requirement to get a Non-O visa at some thai consulates :/
Dave ***********
Just to reiterate my last post, having just read other comments. Please do not spend money on going to other consulates, other than what’s local to you. I’ve done non o visas in Penang, Singapore and HK, and I’m from the UK. Due to work circumstances I’ve never converted them to extension of stay until now- took me 2 visits to Pattaya immigration to ensure my documents for the extension were right! So if you need any pointers just shout.

Thanks that's very helpful.

If you can go to the thai consulate in Savannakhet Lao or Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam. Neither of those require ANY financial proof, and you can get either a 90 day single entry, or a year-long multi-entry Non-O based on marriage to a thai from them with just the marriage certificates, and copies of your thai wife's i/d and house book listing.
Paul *********
Yeah i just assumed it would of been the same
Justin *********
@Paul ********
you're probably thinking of the multiple entry tourists visa
Paul *********
Cool i thought it had to be done from your home country
Tod *********
What country are you applying for it in?
Joseph *****
That depends on how often you travel. Multi entry cost 3800 and single entry 1000. This means if you re-enter less than four times, you are paying more than 1000 THB a pop.

I am going to do a extension to 1 year multi entry inside Thailand but the local agent said I could apply a 3 months from my own country Embassy as is cheaper. Any suggestions?

Applying from Singapore.

The requirements vary from consulate to consulate. If it says that on their website then it's a requirement.
