Can anyone assist with the process of how easy or how difficult it is to get a visa which allows a parent to accompany a child here in Thailand attending an International Program but NOT an International School. What are the requirements and would the parent be permitted to work "remotely"?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a visa for a parent accompanying a child attending an International Program in Thailand (not an International School), the recommended steps include visiting the Ministry of Labor to inquire about applying for a Work Permit under a Non Immigrant O visa. Then, the parent should also consult the school to gather necessary documents for the child's Non Immigrant ED visa application. Additionally, to apply for a guardian visa, they must have a bank balance of 500,000 baht in their name for at least 30 days prior to applying for a yearly extension.

Okay, any way you slice it, IF you want to get a 'guardian visa' where you are raising a foreign child here, you would need to bank 500K baht in a thai bank account in your name only in order to get the 90 day Non-O visa, AND then you'd need to have that money in the bank for 30 days before you apply for your yearly extension.

Does the English teaching firm you are with provide you with work permit to teach in Hat Yai Thailand? They say they provide all visa support. Just curious.

Lisa Hollingsworth and if you teach as well you are working ILLEGALLY in Thailand.

Thai Immigration do spot check language schools and regular schools for teachers without work permits. Those found are detained and deported...

not a pleasant experience.

Do yourself a big favor...

Get a legal work permit to teach in Thailand. Good Luck.

I would say the first step in to visit the Ministry of Labor to ask if they allow you to apply for the Work Permit using the Non Immigrant O visa based on being a family member of a child with ED visa. Then visit the school and ask if they are able to provide all the documents for the child to apply for the Non Immigrant ED visa and then you can go together to a Thai Consulate, where the child applies for the Non Immigrant ED visa and you for the Non Immigrant O or B visa depending on outcome with Ministry of Labor.
Robert *******
So you just like to change visa yourself, then it become first the Ministry of Labor if that type of visa allows you to continue your work as described in your work permit, or if you also like to change work, you have to talk with your new employer for a new work permit.
