Hi, just wanted to know of any experience of getting a guardian visa, off the back of kids having an ed visa, being enrolled in a British school in BKK. We will have 2 kids attending a British school, can myself and my husband get a guardian visa from each child, we are all British? Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers on obtaining guardian visas for British parents whose children are enrolled in a British school in Bangkok on education (ED) visas. It's confirmed that each parent can obtain a Non-O visa corresponding to each child, provided the children are properly enrolled and meet the necessary financial requirements. Necessary documentation from the school and proof of funds (500k Baht) in the bank are key prerequisites for visa applications.

One kid one guardian visa two kids two guardian visa provided they are enrolled in school, they will prepare the paperwork you get the O visa in three working days in the Thai embassy we just did it last week, then enter and get it extended.... this I still have to do

Thanks Tod, so I think I understand, we would need to apply for non-o in London, based on education for the children then apply for 1 year with the paperwork from the school OR enrol in the school and get the kids ED and us non-o based on the kids being at school before we move.

I understand about the 500k requirements also.

I'd say it'd be easier for you to get the Non-O visas and the ED visas from the thai consulate BEFORE you come here with documentation from the school the kids will be attending.

The other choice is come on tourist visas and then get the kids ED visas and you Non-O's once you're here (either inside the country at the immigration office, if you can) OR at a thai consulate in a nearby country.

So if you only have one kid, is it possible for both parents to get this type of extension?

One child one visa.

Any way you slice it you're going to need a Non-O visa <- (which is what parents of foreign kids get and is commonly called a guardian visa).

If you know what school the kids are going to be enrolled in why not get the school to send you the paperwork.

That way you could get the ED visas AND the two Non-O visas you need from a thai consulate in your country BEFORE you wing your way here?

If you can't do that get everyone single entry tourist visas (you and the kids), That way it gives you enough time to get their ED visas sorted and then work on getting your Non-O visas and extensions.

Each parent could use one of the children to use for their extension but it will require the 500K baht in the bank for each parent..

Simple answer is yes. Enrolled in a school with the proper credentials, documents supplied by the school, 500k per child in the bank and an extension is possible.

Can both parents get this?

First you need to apply or have the Non Immigrant O visa and than you can Extend your stay.

Im not sure we could get it then, as we don't seem to meet criteria for Non-O. I was wondering if we could come in on an METV, and then once the kids had their ED, we could get the visa from theirs
