Okay so we need some advise as we are gearing up to start filling out applications...we are coming from the U.S.
Myself, husband and 4 year old (will be 5 next year) are looking to relocate to Chiang Mai. My husband will be going to a Muythai school and will be traveling on an Ed Visa. I will also most likely will be on an Ed Visa as well. Our 5 year old won't be, BUT we want to enroll him into an international school we have been communicating with. So we are trying to figure out what the best scenarios look like.
We already know that I will need a Non-Immigration O Guardian for my son if we plan on enrolling him in school..and the Thai bank account and 500,000 bhat
But here the serious become complicated...
Scenerio# 1If my husband and I are both on Ed Visa's coming into Thailand without having enrolled my son into a scho, does he need a visa?
Scenario #2 If my husband and I are both on Ed visas coming into Thailand and later decide to enroll my son into an international school, will that mean I will also have to change my visa status to a Non-immigrant O Guardian visa and forfeit my education visa? Can I do both visa's?
Scenario #3, if I get offered a teaching job, can my son get a dependent visa if he's not going to the same school I'm teaching in, and if he's enrolled in a different school, will I still need a non immigration O Guardian visa still?
So sorry hope it's not too confusing, but I feel like we have so many scenarios that can go any which way...your insight and advise is truly appreciated ๐
TLDR : Answer Summary
A U.S. family planning to relocate to Chiang Mai is seeking advice on visa requirements for themselves and their 5-year-old child, who they wish to enroll in an international school. They are considering various scenarios regarding the need for their childโs visa while both parents hold Ed Visas. Clarifications regarding the necessity of a Non-Immigrant O Guardian Visa for the child and the possibility of changing visa statuses or obtaining dependent visas are also discussed.
