Hello Tod & Team,

I just returned from South Africa with my new passport. I still used the old passport as the current visa and Re-Entry stamp were in there. The lady at Passport Control said I should have my Visa transferred to my new passport, but could not tell me if I would need any other documents, what the process is, etc. Can you please advise? If I have to visit the Immigration office, would it be Division 6?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquires about transferring their visa from an old passport to a new one after arriving in Thailand. The Passport Control officer suggested they should have the visa transferred but did not provide specifics on the necessary documents or process. Comments suggest visiting the local immigration office for the transfer, with one noting that if an extension stamp is involved, one must go to the office that issued the extension for the transfer.

You don't need anything. Go to your local immigration where you always do your 90 day and they just transfer everything . Nothing needed

careful throwing out advice like it works at all 80+ immigration offices ๐Ÿ˜ฎ because it doesn't work like that here ๐Ÿ˜•

For instance, in Bangkok you have to have a form filled out with the appropriate copies, and other offices require their own particular things too

This is the transfer stamp form we have to use in Bangkok

I went with just the 2 British passports old and new and they transferred it all into the new one. For me no mess no fuss. Maybe I was lucky

and you did that at Chaengwattana in bangkok?

And then did my own old and new in Songkhla same thing . Nothing needed . Just both passports.

So, you have an extension stamp, not that visa anymore, right? Please read your stamp well.

If you have an extension stamp, you need to go to the EXACT office that issued your extension to transfer stamps.

Contact that office to check what they really require you to transfer them.

Here is general information on transferring stamps, but this does not cover every office.

I'd like to verify that at this might come up later that you can renew your passport abroad and still enter using the stamps in the old passport?

Is it really in the requirement to move over the Visa and extension stamps? I know I had to do it before my extension in country they just gave me the forms and did it at the same time.

, You can enter Thailand using both passports when you get a new one when you are out of Thailand.

You are supposed to have the correct documents to stay in Thailand: the right passport with the right permission inside.

The timing of transferring could depend on what you need to do at the local office next. You can go to the office asap. anyway, You must transfer stamps at least before earlier one of the dates of, your next 90-day report or extension application. Even you do both of them in one visit. They have you transfer stamps first, then let you apply for an extension or submit a 90-day report.

We advise people to transfer stamps earlier rather than later.

I have a Non-B and Work permit until 7 Nov, but all are linked to the old passport number. I entered on a Re-Entry permit on the old passport.

These are my latest stamps, but I will follow the advice regardless.

, read your stamp. It says "extension of stay...". That is an extension.

Thanks. Last Question, if I want to make a booking, can you perhaps advise which of these options I should choose?

@Louw *******
, unfortunately, you cannot book a queue for transferring stamps at CW. you just walk in to get the queue to the same counter your extension was issued.

oh. Damn. Ok, thanks

you sound like you don't have ANY Non-B anything and if you were to read the stamp in your passport you'd see that it says "EXTENSION OF STAY PERMITTED UNTIL" and has the date of Nov 7th on it

That is NOT a visa, and you need to go to the office that gave you that stamp follow the sheet that Ellie provided to get the extension and re-entry permit transferred to the new passport
