Hi all, can anyone confirm that flying back to the UK from Thailand and stopping in the UAE to change planes is a red list no no that will necessitate quarantine in UK? Can't get any official info on this. While I'm at it, is it okay to enter Thailand having changed planes in the UAE?

Thanks

Answer summary

Traveling from Thailand to the UK with a layover in the UAE will necessitate a quarantine upon arrival in the UK, as the UAE is on the red list. Even if you're just changing planes and not exiting the transit area, quarantine is still required. Entering Thailand from the UAE is permissible, but expect a 15-night quarantine in Bangkok or the option to enter under the Phuket sandbox scheme if vaccinated, which allows for roaming on the island after a negative COVID test.

UAE is currently on the red list for the uk which means quarantine on arrival. You can enter Thailand from the UAE but you’d need to do 15 nights quarantine in Bangkok, or under the Phuket sandbox scheme if your vaccinated then you can enter and roam the island for 14 days (after your first negative Covid test).

If you fly back to the UK via red list country you will need to pay for hotel garunteen on arrival in the UK. Even if just changing aircraft and not leaving transit area.
