TLDR : Answer Summary
To return to the UK from Thailand, you need to complete the UK passenger locator form, which requires details about COVID-19 tests you've arranged in the UK. You must book and pay for two tests to be taken on days 2 and 8 after arrival in the UK, and it is advisable to have a printed copy of your COVID test results at the airport. Some travelers noted that the process is manageable, although it can be costly.

Announcement from Boris today, guess it’s will be a little smoother after the 17th. You will still need a PCR tho.

Thanks all. not sure whether to go back or wait and see if the covid extensions are extended.

The day 2 and 8 must be booked and paid for before flight out. You can opt for a day 5 "test to release" from home quarantine. It's all very costly.

I flew back on Friday. I’d been in Thailand since October.

COVID test on Thursday morning by Dr. Donna.

Booked the 2 and 8 day test for back in the UK. List of providers in on Gov website.

Fill in passenger locator form. You need a number off your 2 & 8 day test receipt for this.

You need a hard copy of you COVID test at the airport. I didn’t but Tourist Police will print out anything at their booth at the airport.

I flew with KLM via Amsterdam to Birmingham.

All the airports were pretty quiet and fast to clear.

did you have to self isolate?

, only back in the UK and for 10 days. There is an option of test to release after 5 days but I didn’t go with this option. You don’t need to buy this in advance, you can buy it back in the UK and complete another passenger locator form. So far, they have called every day to confirm I understand what is expected of me.

hi, Rich. I'm thinking of KLM for a flight back to the UK around the end of this month. I would be via Amsterdam into London City. What about the flights themselves, mate. Were they packed or fairly quiet? Cheers.

, very quiet from BKK. Amsterdam to Birmingham was a little busier but nothing of concern.

, yes you need a negative test within the three days before travel. See photo from gov.uk

Could be possible that with the new system UK gov starting soon Thailand could be downgraded

Go to the U.K. government website and complete passenger locator form. It gives all the information you need.
