Today I tried to get a 60 day corona visa extension in Pattaya. My 60+30 day Tourist visa expires on March 4. I was shocked because the immigration Officer told me that I have to come back on March 4.. If I not get the visa on this day this will lead immediately to an overstay. Imcannot plan be return flight.

I would like to know about the experience from other group members. It is still easy to get the 60 day covid visa extension in Phuket or Koh Samui? Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about the process of obtaining a 60-day COVID-19 visa extension in Pattaya and expressed concern about potential overstaying due to advised procedures by immigration. Community responses clarified that it is advisable to follow the immigration officer's instructions to apply on the day the current visa expires to ensure an extension is processed correctly. Additional insights indicated that the extension process seems automatic for most applicants and that travelers should plan accordingly to avoid complications.

. . . the immigration officer actually tried to be helpful when he told you to visit on he day your Tourist Visa extensions runs out. The reason might be that if he issued the extension today, he would have needed to start the 60 days from today. He lets you apply for it on March 4th, so the 60 days will start on the March 4th. Thus he actually wants to ensure you receive the full amount of the 60 days Covid19 extension and don't lose any days until march 4th

Don't be shocked. Just do what they tell you to do. Fairly likely that the COVID extension scheme will be extended as well.

doesn't apply to him as the current Covid19 extension scheme is bound to run until march 30th

If, for whatever reason your extension of stay is denied, you will get a “extension of stay denied “ stamp, and you would have to leave no later then 7 days.

However, I never heard of anyone being rejected for a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19

I think the reason they said that is that you went too early and extension is pretty much automatic. Extension counts from the day you apply according to some people who have done it

I myself apparently went too early, because now it is okay for it.

Was that the person on the front desk? Because I went in today for the same reason and was given all the forms to fill and told to come back tomorrow,

My extension finishes on March 9th

Go back as instructed.

You will get your extension.
