What is the process for extending a 30-day visa exempt entry in Thailand?

I got into Bangkok about 10 days ago, with a 30 day VOA. I haven't been to Thailand in more than 10 months. I'd like to get an extension and am wondering if the process is the same or has anything changed? It was fairly straightforward to get an extension last year?

Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about extending their stay in Thailand after entering on a 30-day visa exempt entry. Respondents clarified that this type of entry can indeed be extended for an additional 30 days at a local immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht. The extension application must be made during the 30-day period after arrival, with specific timing considerations based on the immigration office's policies. It's also essential to have a TM30 address registration on file.

The application for the 30 days extension of stay is to be made at your local Thai Immigration office for 1900 Thai baht.

You did not say where you are going to be when you make your application. Most Thai Immigration offices will accept your application for the 30 days extension during the 30 days from your arrival date.

However several only accept your application during the final week or several days before your STAMPED in ending date.

These are the common found requirements for the 30 days extension of stay. The 30 days are ADDED to your current ending date.

Be sure to have a TM30 address registration on file with Thai Immigration.

. You can go there anytime up to the ending date of the STAMP you got on arrival. The 30 days are ADDED to your current ending date .

Be AWARE ...

APRIL HOLIDAY CLOSURES

ALL Immigration offices in the country will be closed;

Monday April 8th

Friday April 12th

Monday April 15th

Tuesday April 16th

If you have a stamp that expires on a day the immigration office is closed (weekend or holiday) AND you go the very next business day they're open you can get your extension like normal, not be fined for overstay. You WILL get an overstay stamp in your passport but it will say (overstay xxx days fine waived due to holiday)

There's no such thing as a 30 day VOA <- Visa On Arrival 😮

If you showed up here from Japan without having bought a visa to thailand you were stamped in FREE for 30 days on what's called a "visa exempt entry".

You can extend that one time for 30 more days at the immigration office that serves the area where you stay for 1900baht.

In Bangkok on a visa exempt entry stamp you go to IT Square Laksi Plaza for your extension;
