Quick question about the covid extention 60 days.

Is it the same as getting a normal 30 days extention for 1900 baht? Do we just go to an immigration office and get the visa on the same day we apply? Also which office is advises in phuket?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The COVID-19 60-day extension is different from a normal 30-day extension process and requires specific documentation. In Phuket, you must apply at the main Immigration Office in Phuket Town (Room 201), where you'll need multiple documents, including a signed copy of your passport data page, a passport photo, proof of filing a TM30, and proof of your latest entry stamp. The extension costs 1,900 baht, and you may receive an 'under consideration' stamp that requires you to return later for final approval. It's important to apply for a 30-day extension first in either Patong Beach or the Phuket Town office before applying for the 60-day extension.

Yes, an extension can be requested approx. 45 days in advance, (as far as I am informed 😏) so you can go there immediately and everything is done. the sooner the better. That's how I always do it. I did my 30 days and went straight to the 60 day extension 2 weeks later

important...!! as always have all the papers together otherwise it won't work.! I first drove to immigration phucket town, got all the papers, filled them out and had them completed (e.g. by the hotel # notification of residence) then it worked great

.good Luck...đŸ˜đŸ‘đŸ˜„

Generic answer, but specific to Phuket. You must apply at the main Phuket Town office. Up the stairs room 201.

You’ll need this stuff. Not all offices have the same requirements so it may be slightly different depending on which of the 70+ offices you use.

A copy of your passport data page (signed),

A passport photo,

Proof of filing a TM30,

A copy of your departure card (TM6) (signed)

A copy of your latest entry stamp (signed)

A copy of any previous Covid extension stamps (signed) (Phuket requires this other offices may not)

In Phuket they require the copies to be in portrait not landscape. This means the top of your passport aligns along the shorter side of the A4. Except for the Data Page where most passports are “sideways”

(Other offices may not be as pedantic)

A filled out TM7 (application form for extensions) - the form doesn’t have a space for your email or phone number but just write it on the back (page 2).

A filled out STM2 (acknowledgement that you understand the rules for overstaying)

A filled out “I don’t want to leave because of Covid form” - I have no idea if it has an official name or number.

And 1,900 baht.

The forms are available at your local office. Most have places on site or nearby that can do the copies and photos.

Many offices will give you a “under consideration” stamp requiring you to return somewhere from 5-14 days later where they will stamp for the remaining 60 days. If they do you MUST use the same office to “close out” that stamp. For example you cannot get a “under consideration” stamp from Bangkok and close that out in Chiang Mai 15 days later.

If it’s your first time applying for the extension they’ll date it from the day you apply, so you’d lose any remaining days you have on your current stamp. Subsequent applications would be added on to the existing stamp.

I forgot to ask one more thing does phuket town office require an residency registration in phuket or can it be elsewhere in thailand?

TM30 has to be from Phuket if you’re using the Phuket office.

if it’s your first covid extension they may date it from the day you apply rather than add it on. Perhaps someone who’s done it recently can confirm if they do in Phuket or not. If they do you don’t want to be going too early otherwise you’ll lose dates
