Hi all, do you confirm? I find hard to find a clear information/experiences about the visa exempt case. I would like to make sure if the covid extension can be request to those who enter in the kindom with a 30 days visa exempted (November 2021) with the new rules.

Thanks

"1. Those who entered Thailand using Tourist Visa (TR) or 30 days visa exempted, AND have never apply for Non-Immigrant visa, are eligible to do Covid-19 visa extension.

2. Those who entered Thailand using 60 days Tourist Visa (TR), will need to do a 30 days TR visa extension first, and then apply for Covid-19 visa extension.

Those who cannot meet the above criteria will need to travel out of Thailand. "

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry seeks clarification on whether a COVID extension can be requested for a 30-day visa exempt entry into Thailand, particularly in light of rules effective as of November 2021. According to one response, those entering with a 30-day visa exemption must first apply for a standard 30-day Extension of Stay before being considered for the COVID extension. The situation is complicated by the potential for overstay, as anyone exceeding the initial visa duration must rely on the discretion of immigration officers.

Just calculation: Entered Nov 21, 30 days makes 20 Dec then possible 30 days Extension of Stay makes 20 Jan.

The person is already in overstay and has to rely on leniency of the Immigration Officer.

There is no confirmation to give, people entered on a 30 day visa exempt entry or a 60 day tourist visa have to apply first for the usual 30 day Extension of Stay based on tourism.

IF they are unable to travel at the end of that period they can apply for the Extension of Stay based on unable to travel but also this is a courtesy program of the Immigration Office and the officer decide.

Thanks, missed that Extension of Stay in the post.

You can apply but have a plan B ready.
