Can anyone tell me what the grace period is for renewing the one year extension based on retirement after it's official expiry date? Mine is due for renewal Thursday 11th but with the Jomtiem office only re-opening that day after a one week shutdown, I imagine it's going to be "chocker" and I'd rather delay going a few days if I can do so without penalty.

TLDR : Answer Summary
There is no grace period for renewing a one-year extension of stay based on retirement in Thailand. If the extension is not applied for before the expiration date, the process must be restarted. Applicants can submit their renewal request up to 30 days before the current extension expires. If renewal is delayed past the expiration date, an overstay fine of 500 baht per day will accrue.

Be aware that Siricha may still require a medical certificate of good health signed by a doctor.

It can easily be obtained in Siricha in any of the street medical clinics...use to be a fee of 200 Thai baht. No tests..doctor sees you breathing...you pass.

Suggest you go to Siricha immigration and get their list of extension requirements. I used that office for many years for my one year extension of stay as retiree.

said pretty much covers it. When it is expired, it is expired. No grace after that. On the other hand you do have 30 days before that (45 in some offices) to be the early bird.. Absolutely no reason to wait until last minute, as you won't lose any time by going early.

there is no grace period, you could have applied for a new yearly extension when you had 30 days or less left on your current stamp

you will accrue a 500 baht a day overstay fine for every day after the expiration date you wait to get another extension

you can go to Si Racha Immigration Office and do it

None. If you do not submit a new one year extension of stay based on retirement request when it is due, then you must restart the process.
