TLDR : Answer Summary
In Thailand, you can typically apply for a retirement visa extension at immigration when you have 45 days or less remaining on your current visa stamp. This policy is consistent across various locations, including Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Buriram, Phuket, and Chiang Rai. Specific procedures may vary by location, so it's advised to check the local immigration office for any region-specific rules, such as those in Chonburi (Pattaya).

What's the Chonburi (Pattaya) policy?

Ask that immigration office, they have a reputation of doing their own policy and making changes.

Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Buriram, Phuket, Chiang Rai and a couple other ones (Surat Thani/Samui maybe) all allow people to apply for extensions when they have 45 days or less left on their current stamp.

thank you, with me it's Korat and the reason I asked is that I think I read somewhere that it cannot be done more than 7 days before expiration date.

Nope, I don't think there's any immigration office that has a "7 days before" policy
