I have been getting some conflicting information on the Thailand DTV Visa on the requirements for the $14,500+ that’s needs to be in bank. I have been seeing 3 months and 6 months. I will be applying online with one of the US embassy’s but before I apply does anyone know the exact time that money needs to be shown in the bank?

TLDR : Answer Summary
There is confusion regarding the bank statement requirements for the Thailand DTV Visa, specifically concerning the necessary duration the required funds must be held in the bank. While many Asian embassies may ask for a statement showing the required amount of 500,000 THB (approximately $14,500) for up to six months, some US embassies may accept a three-month statement or only look at the final balance at the time of application. It is recommended to check with the specific embassy where you will be applying, as they may have differing rules on the necessity of 'seasoning' (the duration the funds have been in the account) versus simply requiring evidence of the final balance.

Diffrent Embassies and Consulates have different seasoning rules so go to the site at which your applying for the DTV Bryan

Read the requirements and go from there

The longer the better

Or

Go through an agent in Thailand, pay their eye popping rates for their service and expedite the process

Up to you

You’ll need to check specifics with your embassy. Some require three or six months worth of statements but it’s the final balance of 500 KTHB that is important while others require seasoning

have we seen any consulates that actually have 'seasoning' in the terminology?

@Todd ********
no I just used a commonly used and understood term to save a whole lot of typing - is it a problem 😀

no - I’m just asking. People often say the money needs to be seasoned for 3-6 months. I have never seen anything to suggest that is actually true. Only the end balance matters. And they may want 3-6 months of transaction records

I haven’t seen those requirements either just successfully applicants who have shown the full amount for the entire period Who knows they may have been approved with just the final balance😀

i think exactly the same. I don't believe the 500k has to be anything except closing balance. But there is definitely room for oddball consulates lol

I think you're going to find it's about $16,000

now because the dollar is low but if later & Biden or Kamala Harris wins the next term, then will be 14k or 13.5k.

ok that’s not an issue thankfully it’s just the time. Hopefully I don’t have to wait another 3 months

@Bryan ******
typically the US based embassies are okay with a final balance of 500k

I remember having read the Royal Thai Embassy Washington DC wants to see a three months statement

thank you. I have 3 months but I was seeing if not 6 it might not get approved and you lose your money for application 😫

check out with the embassy. Send them a polite email and ask

Each embassy differs in the seasoning of the 500k THB. Asian embassies often require 3-6 months. Many US embassies are ok with a final balance of the required amount.

Thai embassies in the USA have recently discontinued this and now require a three months statement . . .
@Bryan ******
you can't ask Daddy and Mommy for a temporary loan of 500,000 THB anymore 😉
