ORIGINAL POSTER
Has anyone here applied for a DTV (Soft Power) with 500,000 THB in their account for only a short period instead of 3 months? Are they actually strict about the 3-month rule, or do they just want to see the balance?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement for showing a balance of 500,000 THB for the DTV (Soft Power) visa can vary depending on the embassy and other factors. Some users report successful applications with funds that were only in their accounts for 10-15 days, while others had longer seasoning periods. There is no official 3-month rule specified in the law, but some embassies impose their own rules regarding bank statements. Overall, it's important to present a solid application, including a consistent bank balance, to minimize the risk of rejection.

The set rule is the 500k needs to be current balance not seasoned. But some embassys have made it there own requirement, but then those embassys have also shown flexibility on occasions. Sadly its just not clear but one thing we have found is that they dont like empty accounts that just go to 500k balance just before application.

I guess its the job of the embassy to establish if you have enough miney to maintain a long stay in Thailand and they like to analyze your bank statements and make a decision on each applicant individually.

There is no 3 months rule in the law about the DTV. Or any seasoning of money mentioned there whatsoever. Doesn’t prevent some embassies to make up their own rules and requirements - as nothing is ever coherent when it comes to Thailand.

I applied at Hanoi and submitted 6 months bank statement. Only the last month and end balance ( day before submitted ) was 500k. Got approved less than 2 days.

Anonymous participant 893 so you understand that this person needs specific information for that particular consulate and most recent info. Which obviously isn’t ’asked and answered daily’

A lot depends on the passport and which embassy you are applying at. Also, the on-going trends vary from time to time.

Based on posts on this group:

There have been cases approved with money in their accounts for as less as 10-15 days and there have been cases rejected with funds seasoned for as long as 6-7 months.

Also, the overall construct of the application and way it's presented makes a difference.
