TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around finding the most cost-effective and straightforward way to obtain a Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) for expats from Australia. It highlights various methods, including applying independently rather than through an agent, which could cost around 10,000 THB. Several users shared their experiences suggesting online application routes from Australia costing around $600 AUD. They emphasize that completing the process independently can be cheaper, although potential mistakes could incur costs if the application is rejected. The DTV allows multiple entries into Thailand for extended stays and can be tied to various activities such as tourism or remote work.

Issa compass isn't that expensive, their fee is only around 150$ above the visa fees. The 50k you quoted - does that incl a cooking class or something else you need to obtain it?

It's a simple process to follow and check sheet on the embassy website. As long as you provide what they ask for it's a simple process. Mine took less than 24 hours to obtain.

I reckon mine was cheapest and easiest hands down, I never applied and never paid. All arranged by my employer, just sent them a copy of my passport and they did the rest including picking up the tab. Maybe not for you but still it was cheap and easy! :)

for a DTV.

you apply for it on the Thailand government website and the DTV is free

You can apply for 72 hours before you travel.

There are many fake sites that will take your money.

Just use the government site.

a DTV is a 5 year mulit entry visa that allows visits up to 180 days each time you are stamped in. You can leave the country every 180 days then reenter to get your new 180 day stamp. The DTV can only be applied for outside of thailand and can be obtained by either signing up for a soft power like muay thai for a minimum of 6 months, a dental or hospital treatment plan or for working g remotely i.e. work for clients or co companies outside of thailand while inside thailand.

That will depend on the purpose you apply under. If you want to work remotely from Thailand then you must apply using the workation route, show your work credentials, pay the application fee, show money in your bank and your good. If you won't work remotely from Thailand apply using one of the soft power routes, pay for more than 6 months of your chosen activity with an accredited provider, pay the application fee, show money in the bank, show how you can support yourself without working and show money in your bank

to everyone saying do it yourself, if you make a mistake and/or submit docs that are incorrect, etc it could be a waste of 10k bath if they reject it. So using an agent who consults and verifies everything may be the better way depending on each ones individual situation. Or go with soft power instead

the DTV can only be applied for from outside Thailand so there is no greasing the wheels and therefore no guarantee ;)

I am from Australia, my wife applied on line from home and only cost her $600 AUD and got her visa within 4 weeks.

I applied as her Spouse on line in Australia for $600 AUD as well.

Remember that you need to have $24.000 in your bank account.

A DTV is a destination thailand Visa that you get when applying through the e visa system outside of thailand, either soft power or remote working . The entry card or TDAC is not a visa just notice of arrival in thailand which you fill in within 3 days of arrival, not a visa. The DTV and TDAC are 2 completely different things

I think you're referring to the TDAC, Thailand destination Arrival Card and yes that's free, but a DTV is about 10k baht depending on embassy if u meet all requirements..(without an agent's assistance)
