TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion emphasizes a strong preference for handling the DTV visa application independently rather than through agencies. Participants share personal experiences and recommend resources available in online groups or forums. Several commenters caution that agencies tend to overcharge and complicate the process, urging applicants to seek guidance from others who have successfully navigated the application themselves. Key requirements for the DTV visa include proof of a bank balance of 500,000 THB and evidence of regular income.

Forget agencies. They charge an arm and a leg and are why consulates are making it more difficult to acquire a DTV. As long as you have 500K to your name and can make it look like you're getting paid regularly then you're halfway there.

We can do it for you... We are a school that provides all documents for Thai cooking soft power

Highly recommend avoiding "agents" for the DTV application.

Participant anonyme 419 and why so? Some agents even guarantee you to obtain your DTV successfully, and quickly (usually without losing time being asked to provide more documents after submitting your application), for very affordable prices. Many people here reported losing more money on having to apply a second, or even a third time, because embassies are getting stricter and stricter about it, rather than spending a little extra for a good agent that will ensure you get approved. Got mine in 3 days, Hanoi, SP (cooking), in one shot, and absolutely no regret paying an agent for it. To each their own, obviously.

because if you truly qualify it makes no difference, just prepare your application carefully. If you don't qualify an agent is going to magically get you a DTV. It's a waste of money. If you have trouble inputting your name accurately, yeah comsider it.

"If you don't qualify an agent is going to magically get you a DTV." Well, you are criticizing those who'd need an agent for not being able to input their own name accurately, but look at your own sentence. You obviously wanted to say the opposite, so... Application denied? Anyway, there are plenty of reasons for being denied or having your application cancelled, some might be obvious, others much less, and agents are usually experts in optimizing your chances of being successful. A waste of money? Well, for some, maybe, but each case/person is different, and depending on what country you're applying from (especially non-English countries), it can be really tricky to deal with all the translations, cover letter, portfolio... I'm well aware none of what I say will change your mind, and I actually couldn't care less. I'm just voicing my opinion on the matter.

correction: if you don't qualify you're not getting a DTV regardless. If you do qualify you save hundreds of dollars on "agent fees" by doing it yourself. But some will be "taxed" despite Thailand giving you a great deal on a platter.

English is the world's global language. All Thai embassies and consulates worldwide accept and prefer English or Thai language documents where possible. In most locations, it's required. A few European ones might also accept documents in the language of the application country too, such as German or French.

@Paul ******
Maybe, but not everyone speaks English or wants to have to deal with documents which have to be translated into it. It can be daunting for many people, unfamiliar with the language, especially regarding financial and administrative documents. And fees are not in the hundreds. Some agents offer their services for much less, starting at around a hundred USD, and even guarantee you success in getting your DTV.

@Nick *****
Documents need to be translated into Thai or English at MOST consulates around the world, whether an applicant likes it or not. The exception being a few European consulates, which take certain documents issued in the local language.

@Nick *****
Pretty unlikely anyone would come to Thailand without knowledge of at least English and preferably Thai as well. They'd be completely unable to communicate with anyone and Thais would be scratching their heads at how can a foreigner not speak English?

what agency?

Agency names are not welcome here, unfortunately. It's a famous one, in Bangkok. Its name evokes a navigation tool.

the DTV visa is a 5 year multiple entry Thai Visa. Each entry gets a 180 day stamp.

how do you go about solving the “higher quality and correct pdf format” request, when the files are PDF’s and didn’t need compression due to their original small size. There is literally 0 info about that
Wannikea *********
DTV’ER possibly take new pictures of better resolution and then combine them all into a single PDF for each category, making sure it's within acceptable size, and if not, compress it from there. Use Ilovepdf.com
