Hello

I need some information regarding the work permit and its cancellation policy.

Can someone advise who to ask or where to obtain it? Can I ask on this group?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around getting information on work permits in Thailand, specifically focusing on the cancellation policy. Users suggest asking the employer or visiting the Ministry of Labor. There's also a warning about the difficulties related to obtaining a 90-day Non-B visa without proper documentation of a work permit from a previous employer.

And where were you between the expiry of your Non-B visa entry stamp and today?

I guess that’s what caused the embassy staff’s reaction then.

But you stayed the full duration of your Non-B?

I left the country for about 2 months and entered with a tourist Visa again.

As she said, the embassy staff suspects she never got a WP but continued to work under the January Non-B and whatever permission to stay she had up till now.

I’m referring to after the 90 days. Since Jan, so that would be End-Mar? And from Mar to Aug what kind of stay was she on? Maybe that’s contributing to her issue?
Tod *********
and what does that have to do with anything?

She had a 90 day Non-B visa and even if she quit the day she got stamped into the country she'd still be allowed to stay the 90 days on the stamp she got from the visa.

I think you have a HIGH chance of getting a denial on the 90 day Non-B visa from Vientiane because they are asking almost everyone for proof of the work permit IF you had a previous Non-B in your passport.

Now when you got the first 90 day Non-B visa you had to have had in the document packet proof your employer had applied for a work permit, but seeing as you never went to work for them that's all you would have had. I think you need to contact your previous employer because that's who'd have the original WP3 from the Ministry of Labour.

ok thank you for the useful information

you can ask your employer, but if they don't know than you can always go to the Ministry of Labor in the area where you live. From that Ministry you get a Work Permit and when you stop working you hand back your Work Permit to this Ministry.
Robert *******
no, it starts at the moment your employer walks in the Ministry of Labor and apply for it, you do not have to have any visa or even to be inside Thailand for that. The WP3 form asked is a confirmation that the application is done for a work permit.

@Robert ******
does application for work permit start after obtaining 90 days non-b or 1-year non-b?

WP3 from the employer, correct?
Robert *******
Than i guess your application will be rejected. the requirements is OR the WP3 form OR copies of WP on repeated applications.

@Robert ******
thank you for your information.

My situation is the following: I got my first 90-day non b visa in January, and when I went back to work, they wanted to terminate me. Therefore, I never obtained a work permit.

Now I am in Vientiane again. All my documents are ok. Only at the embassy, she says she needs a copy of my previous work permit (which I never obtained). So she said my Visa might get rejected, since nothing confirms that i stopped working at the school and not stayed there and continued to work illegally.

My current school says it should be ok, because i never got a 1-year non-b.

I don't have any experience or information about this anyway. I am just making sure I will get the Visa tomorrow and what to say, according to the law, if any problems should arise tomorrow.
