Require a 90 day visa, to go visit Thai wife. What is the best route ??? I am still working and normally get a 60 day tourist and add 30 days in country if required. I am 61 now. Any suggestions please ??

Thanks, legally married, so for ease will use the Non-O ,not looking forward to paying and being in prison for 15 nights, even a nice prison 😀

Somehow Thailand has to have a Christmas Tourists . Otherwise Hotels owned by Generals will go Kaput too .

, I believe that if you get a Non-O, you will need to exit Thailand every 90 days and return to get another 90 day stamp. That means you would have to go through the entry process again. The AO might be a better way to go if you want to stay one year.

, oh crap. Thank goodness I live only 45km from the Laotian border. My visa was always stamped for 90 days only and I was unaware that you just needed to go to immigration for another 90 stamp.

 The extension stamp is not 90 days ... it's one year. Needs proof of marriage; financial proof; and 1900 baht.

 Because you were getting an O-visa at one of the very few embassies in the world who do not ask for financials. And that is changing.

, no I mean that I never had to show bank money when I returned to Thailand from Lao. My visa was for a year, but immigration stamp was 90 days with no other requirements, including money. The Thai Consulate in Los Angeles only required 700 dollars in a US bank account and that has not changed, yet.

 Well NO-ONE ever has to show banked money on entry.

People only ever have to show banked money when applying for visas and when applying for extensions.

The consulate you used only wanted to see $700. The norm is wanting to see 400,000 baht (which matches up with the requirement to get an in-country one-year extension). One that I heard of wants to see 400,000 baht PLUS 40,000 baht per month income). That's to get a 90-day O-visa.

, I will continue to get my visa in Los Angeles every year until they change. Right now Thailand requires health insurance and payment for quarantine along with expensive flights. Those are all additional costs from what I have paid before Covid-19.

 The COVID health insurance and quarantine requirements apply no matter what type of visa you have.

So your argument is invalid. If you got back-to-back 12-month extensions instead of border-hopping, then you would not need the COVID insurance and quarantine. LOL.

, not invalid. I said that I will be waiting until next year until I try to go back. The Thai government is already talking about reducing the quarantine duration Once a vaccine is made available, things will change again. Thanks for your input.

 the quarantine will be there for a long time ... uk you need $100,000 insurance that covers covid and that is not cheap ....

 normally come for 60 days feb/mar, 30 days in June and 60 days mid sept/oct, have a lot of work in the UK at present.

As others said, as long as you are legally married then the Non O for marriage/family is by far the easiest way. You get 3 months on entry.

Given your age, the Non O-A is also available but is much more expensive to qualify for and requires more paperwork. This gives you a year on entry.
