Hi everyone my question is what would be the best visa for me to apply for when I arrive in Thailand I'm flying out to Thailand to be with my wife in the hope to rent a property, I wish to be able to return to the UK on a yearly basis to visit my family, I'm over 50, and hold a Thai bank account, I've just applied for a 90 day visa from the UK.

I also have certificates :

CRB ok

Fingerprints ok

Medical document ok

6month bank statements

Are you required to have 400,000 or 800.000 ? In your Thai bank ? I will also obtain medical insurance when I arrive, is there anything else I need to bring to Thailand before I leave the UK or am I good to go ? Cheers

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking the best visa option to stay in Thailand with a Thai spouse after arriving with a 90-day visa. Key discussions clarify that they should look into a Non-Immigrant O visa based on marriage, enabling them to apply for an extension of stay with a requirement for a bank balance of 400,000 THB, which needs to be held for at least two months prior to application.

I would stay away from an OA visa at this time. You already have an O visa and stated an intent to buy health insurance. Follow the process to go directly to a 1 year extension of stay. Buy a good value insurance policy that meets your needs. Don’t get caught up in the current OA insurance confusion.

you have applied for AND ALREADY received a 90-day visa in the UK ? My question: can you please confirm that you applied for a 90-day Non-Imm-O Single Entry, based to being married to a Thai ? When you arrive with the Non-Imm-O visa in Thailand, you will receive an "admitted until" stamp in your passport. You will not be given a new "visa". However with the Non-Imm-O you can apply for an "Extension of Stay" (EOS) based on being married to a Thai. In this case the bank deposit needs to be 400,000 THB. The money needs to have sat in your account for 2 months before your application

most likely the documents needed are: Application form T.M. 7

1 photograph (4x6cm)

Copy of passport, especially Non-Immigrant visa and TM6 arrival/departure card

Fee 1900 THB

Copy of your marriage certificate (if married in another country, a letter of evidence is required from your embassy as well)

Copy of Kor Ror 2 (marriage registration or long tabian) from amphoe office, dated not older than 6 months from issue of copy

Children’s birth certificates (if applicable)

Copy of spouse’s house registration ("tabian baan")

Copy of spouse’s ID card. When you use the deposit method, you will also need your bank's "letter of guarantee" that you had 400,000+ in your account for the last 2 months. you will most probably been given a waiting period of ONE MONTH, during which your application will be sent to the head office for confirmation. During this spell, some immigration officers will visit you and your wife at your home, making sure you live together. I also advise you to buy one single re-entry permit (1000 THB) in case you have to travel abroad, so your EOS does not become invalid upon re-entry to Thailand

after your arrival, go visit the immigration serving the area where you reside. Ask them for the handout listing the documents needed for an application for an 1-year EOS (extension of stay permit) based on being married to a Thai

1. Is your wife Thai?

2. Why are you applying for a visa AFTER you arrive in Thailand? I know there's a type of visa you have to apply BEFORE you come here (Non-OA I think).
