Hi.

Arriving in Thailand 4th December with my wife who is Thai, return flight to UK booked 22nd April. I was going to apply for 90 day visa then fly to Cambodia get 30 days plus extention on return.

Now thinking could I get 45 days, extend 30 go to Cambodia 2 days then back and do another 45 +30 or should I stick with original visa plan.

Never had any overstay or extensions in last 10 years I've been coming to Thailand.

Any advice gratefully recieved.

Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user plans to stay in Thailand for 140 days with their Thai spouse and is contemplating the best visa strategy. Options include obtaining a 90-day Non-O visa or utilizing a combination of visa exemptions and extensions. Suggestions from the community highlight the possibility of obtaining 45 days on a visa-exempt entry, extending it by an additional 30 days, and then making a border run for another 45 days plus 30 days upon return. The conversation indicates that applying for a Non-O visa in advance might simplify the process by reducing the need for border runs.

The 45 days visa exempt is only temporary, i believe until March 2023

, right, and it's no problem for OP who enters Thailand well before 31 March 2023.

Your planned stay is 140 days. You can do border run as you described to get 45 + 30 days, so total 150 days.

As you married to a Thai, 60 days visiting Thai family is also available for you. But it's not enough for you to stay without border-bounce when you enter on visa-exempt. (45 + 30 + 60 = 135 days)

If you get Non-O or TR before you fly to Thailand, you may not have to do border-bounce.

Non-O single entry (90) + family visit extension (60) = 150 days

OR

Single Entry Tourist Visa (60) + tourism extension (30) + family visit extension (60 days) = 150 days

These might be your choices.

And you also need to talk your air carrier if they let you board with return ticket with the date far away from 45 days when you attempt to travel Thailand without visa, on visa-exempt, or not.
