My teaching contract expires at the end of March and my school has yet to inform me whether or not they are extending my contact. My question is what happens to my Visa, and work permit if they decide not to keep me? And what are my options if I lose my non b, and permit?

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
If your teaching contract expires and is not extended, you need to cancel your work permit and your extension of stay before the end date. You should act promptly, as failure to do so will require you to leave Thailand within seven days if you apply for an extension that gets denied. It's advisable to look for a new job quickly and have a plan for applying for a new visa if you intend to return to Thailand.

Why wait till tomorrow to answer your question.

If the school does not give you a new contract, you have to cancel the Work Permit and the Extension of Stay with last date 31 March 2020. You can do this in advance, so you have time to make travel plans to leave Thailand that day. if you can not leave that day you can apply for a new Extension of Stay, it will be NOT approved and you get 7 days to leave the country.

If you like to come back to Thailand you have to organize another visa.

Talk to your school, tell them that you need confirmation on your next contract + paperwork from them to extend your work permit + extension for another year.

It should be so easy and straightforward but some schools aren’t very organized when it comes to paperwork for foreigners, especially if they aren’t used to foreigners on “B” extensions continuing at the school for more than 1 year.

Also FYI, you’ll need to do your tax return before applying for your next work permit extension (but the school should handle the rest of your paperwork)

Start looking for another teaching job ASAP. Take initiative.

Are you now on extension of stay?

What does your contract with school say....or are you contracted thru Agency?

Then after tomorrow you will know more. Come back and let us know. Then next steps can be taken to help you stay in Thailand as you search for new job, if needed. Good Luck.
