TLDR : Answer Summary
If your work permit expires before your Non-B visa, the consequences depend on the type of visa you hold—whether it's a Single Entry Non Immigrant B visa or a Multiple Entry Non Immigrant B visa. The expiration of the work permit does not directly dictate your last day to leave Thailand; it is crucial to understand your visa type and any extensions of stay based on employment.

That depends if you are inside Thailand on the 90 days you got with a Single Entry Non Immigrant B visa or if you have a valid 1 year Multiple Entry Non Immigrant B visa or if you have an Extension of Stay based on working from Immigration.
that makes sense. The visa extension kicks in after the visa expiry date (90 days). If you got your WP on day 60 of your non b visa there would have been 30 days left on your visa before the extension was granted.
OK that makes sense. Only thing is I went to get the non b visa first, then got the work permit. Once with work permit they gave extension of stay. So, I'm not entirely sure why the extension of stay is so long after the date that the WP runs out
in most cases you have a WP before you get a non imm b visa. Your extension date is linked to the visa date, that is why the extension date is after the WP expiry date.
The Extension of Stay is given for 1 year on top of your current stay and only valid if you work inside Thailand. That is why you have to cancel this at the last day of working.
You have to cancel the Work Permit at the Ministry of Labor and with their documents you have to cancel this Extension of Stay based on working at Immigration Office. You can do both in advance to make travel arrangements. Both have to be cancelled on your last day of working.
